:D I wasn't suggesting it for PPC. Just saying it was a fun gun to shoot and a LOT more accurate than I thought it would be. I found, even with the
crappy tiny sights, I grouped better with the Tokerov at 20 yards than with the lady's Glock 17.

Well it is that time again, the yearly 1500 PPC match. First time other than some club practice, that I shot a match with a RDS.

Image

Well I improved alot, esp at the longer stages. 25, and 50M. I shot tighter groups, with more bulls. I had less strain on my eyes. But it did hinder me in a way ( mostly the speed ) The 3M 1 handed, 2 shots 3 seconds ( strong and weak hand ) it was more point and shoot. I couldn't acquire the dot fast enough. Rather get a hit, than a no shoot ( - 10 pt )

First year I shot a 1032, second a 1269, this year I shot a 1306/1500

I made some stupid mistakes with scoring on one of my cards. I had scored for 15 shots, not 12. thought it was fair to just take one of each off.. So removed a 10, 9 and 8.. Some would be like well remove 3 of my lowest scores.

I need to work on my time management. I shoot faster, and I rush, so I did lose some points that way. So 2nd place was in my grasps. I think I was only 28points behind.

So I know what I need to do to improve. The guns getting a different mount that going to be lower, and I'm going to try and mount some iron sights, that 1/3 co witness.. So the dot will be higher.

But took 3rd place Marksman again for the 2nd time in a row. Wife said that good considering how little I got out this year. CZ only been out twice since Covid ( 3rd time was the match ) I haven't shot PPC since well the previous year..

Thanks, it was fun. Except I should have asked the guy next to me to move.. His gun ejected at 3 oclock, and hit me well over dozen times. I had a few cases roll down my neck into my shirt, or hit my gun.

I think the 8 shot S&W Performance Center wheel gun Jerry is shooting in the video, page one of this thread, is 9mm.
My only .38 SPL at this time, is a Colt Police Positive 4". It is the best DA revolver I have ever fired. The colt Python is close.
No muzzle movement as the hammer falls - none. That makes it easy for me to shoot it double action. Our Smiths were a
little more 'touchy' shooting DA.
My .38 Speed loaders work just fine with it.
Of course, with the 4" bl. it is a prohib, even though if measured the same way as a Semi-Auto, it would simply be restricted due to the
cylinder/chamber leagth.

 ...

 ...

No, wait!

:hsmash

Now it makes perfect sense to me.

:partyman:

What I was saying, was that if 4" bl. wheel guns were measured from the recoil face just as semi-autos are, they would gain the length of the cylinder. Wheelguns are measured from the
forcing cone end of the barrel, and do not include the chamber length.
If measured from the recoil shield, my .44 would have a 5 3/4" bl. and the .38 would be almost 5.6. As they are measured, they have 4" bls. and are classified as prohibited. It is an unjust law.

Leadslinger - are they still using a B27 10 ring Silhouette target for PPC - or what are they using now - the green wedge or IPSC-type?

Keeping in mind you don't want to see a sharp target. What you want is a sharp front sight and sharpish rears. Blurry target and shoot the middle of it...

thank you for that.

Disclaimer, I have never participated in a ppc match and hopefully leadslinger chimes in but I have not been notified of any format changes. I had been given B27 and B34 centers to practice with in prep for tentative participation. That was last year but I'm certain I would've been updated if the format had changed.

Yes they still use B27S targets from Cibels targets. Not sure what centers they use. And I don't think they will change them. Because that would change the whole sport.

TKS - that's what I was thinking. In that they kept the 6 round drills, it seemed that way.
Way back when, it was K38's (model 15 S&W) with bull barrels doing most of the PPC shooting.
They also shot 4.2gr. bullseye with 148gr. wadcutters. I have a 6-cavity Lyman mould for that bullet
as well as a DC Lyman mould for it, both solids. The factory 148gr. were hollow based.

Yes to keep the spirit of the competition. Everything is limited to 6 rounds, so there no disadvantage between semi auto and revolvers. It flip flops between semi/revolver to who won.

I used to have a 27-2 modded for PPC. But it was before I even shot PPC. I just liked the look of it. Now I have no real interest in getting a revolver, unless it is a 9mm. I had an Alfa Pro that I did shoot some club matches with, but it wasn't a S&W. Now alot of them are 8 rounds. So like said in a previous post, be annoying to load dummies, or count rounds.

Now the provincials are kind of relaxed to the official rules. Like I do not need to shoot my CZ Double action, ( Because I don't have a manual decocker ) but I do need to have a trigger pull of 3.5#
