Hey. Just came back to air guns. Am into PCP. I live in Mission and just joined MDRGC. I am wondering about air tank filling places. Currently have found a place in Abbotsford, but am thinking about buying a good compressor and filling other people's tanks. Would also like to know more about the Mission field target shoot.

The Mission Rod & Gun Club is great for the monthly target shoots. Lots of friendly regulars, and has gone ahead without fail for the 4+ years that I've been going.

Next shoot is this Sunday, starts at 9AM. Nice and close for you, too!

Once you go through the gate, which should be open, you stick to your right. If it's raining, you'll see people setting up and some cars at the shed. If the weather is decent, continue up the hill past a little pond, which you keep on your left. Once you get to the top, you'll see them setting up for field target there.

I won't be able to make this one, as I'll be hunting up by Princeton. Hope you make it out, we're always happy to get new drop-ins / members.

I have a very good friend, a retired Police Sniper Trainer who is a regular at the mission range. He seems to like it.

Len's the guy on the right. Me on the left. The mayor on the far left, chief range officer on the far right.

Just checked with him and he's been a member for 23 years and now a life member.

That speaks well for that club.

.

Thanks a lot, i'm looking forward to checking the club out when i have a chance. unfortunately ive got fishing plans all weekend... hmmmm maybe i could move something around though.

Hopefully you dont mind but i have a few more questions. I noticed it was a field target shoot. I've never shot field target before and when i looked it up i got conflicting information on wether it was specific to .177 cal guns or if .22 is welcome? Im also wondering about power plants... obviously pcp is ideal but are people also shooting co2 or spring guns? Also wondering how formal or informal the shoot is, if anyone would mind someone just dropping by to watch and just get familiarized with everything?

Again, thanks for the info!

Just got back from my hunting trip.

You can shoot any caliber you want, but I wouldn't recommend going over .22, as the holes in the targets are quite small. Also, there is a power restriction of 20 FPE, in order to not damage the targets. Any power plant is fine as long as it's kept under the maximum FPE.

We really don't mind if people who are interested come by to check it out. HFT is quite simple, and easy to pick up. Come on by, and you can get some instructions and shoot, or just watch and learn. It's not very formal. Basic safety know-how is a must, but that's about it in order to get involved.

I had an absolutely amazing hunt. I bagged a nice moose in the first hour of being out! Just stupid lucky. This was a guided trip by Princeton. One of the best experiences of my whole life, amazing country to glass up there. Unfortunately no one else in the group managed to get one over the following 3 days, but at least we didn't get skunked. They had guide tags for up to 6 of us, but it's tough work and my trigger time paid off. Saw many bulls up there, but they're not exactly fond of staying still. That was my first moose, and hopefully not my last.

February 24th is correct. We don't do shoots in December or January, starts back up monthly in Feb.
