Hi everyone,
Wanted to show you my attempt at modifying a cheap universal nylon holster (UTG in my case) into a somewhat “competition” shooting belt. I also wanted to have an easy draw stick mag pouch to practice reloading. At the end I also made the mag pouch compatible with my rotary revolver clips for my Colt Python.

I made the mag pouch with some padded vinyl material (from an old binocular soft carrying case). I sewed two belt straps at the back and stitches down the middle to create two pockets for the stick mags. In the front I sewed a piece of fabric elastic on both sided and in the middle. This made the revolver clips hold downs.

Now for the holster…I have found that my guns where resting to deep in the holster. That prevented me to get a firm grip on, well…on the grips! So, I sewed a short length of nylon strap (ref. green arrow) across the holster opening. The strap raises the gun around 15mm allowing a good grip with my three remaining fingers (minus my trigger finger naturally pointing down on the holster’s side). At the bottom of the holster I sewed a longer strap that clips back on itself after going around my thigh. Next, I found a stiff oversize belt in a thrift store and punched additional holes in it.

As you can see in the pictures below I slide the mag pouch on the extra length of the belt so I don’t have to slide it full length on the belt itself. Easier getting it on and off… An extra nylon loop (yellow arrow) on the belt allow the pouch to stay put…

This rig works equally well with all my compact guns and even with my 6in Colt Python revolver. When shooting the Colt tough I will position the holster lower on my side, so I don’t have to raise my elbow to much for the barrel to clear the holster.

Anyone in for IPSC style shooting??
