Yeah 177 is not legal in Canada because even in carbine format they consider it a pistol by law and the 177 is over 500fps in both formats actually.

Thanks everyone that responded with tips and advice. On your recommendation I bought a Diana Chaser .22cal full kit from Wes at Airgunarcheryfun. Really looking forward to learning about shooting, care and maintenance. I'm sure I'll have more noob questions.
