Has anyone actually crossed into the U.S. using the Ontario enhanced drivers license only?..no passport. Its only $40.00 to enhance my license and since I don't fly anyway I'm thinking this is the way to go.

I think it is $140 for a ten year passport. I am going to look really young when I am 65 years old. LOL What will a licence add to the bill to get it then again on renewal to have it for 10 years? Just food for thought. CHEERS!

i've crossed once into the US using BC's enhanced drivers license only. ezy pzy. they're scanning (RFID) the license as one approaches so i didn't even have to show ID. just had to answer a few questions (who what where why when) but at two different times i was asked the year of my car during the interrogation. weird.

I use to cross at Buffalo every week for an air pistol match, so I got the enhanced. Crossing was easy and they even had an "Enhanced License" only lane sometimes.

I always have my license with me, so even if we crossed the border unplanned, no problem. I hated having to remember the passport all the time and also making sure it does not get damaged, which makes renewal difficult.

My wife and I drove over to Buffalo NY in our 1-ton truck with trailer in tow. The uniformed US Agent asked the usual - where to? how long? and any fruits, veggies or meats & do you have your passports, then have a nice trip - done. Coming home, how long away, where were you & what did you buy? - then welcome home.

Just wondering if you have told them about the air pistol match you're going to? did they asked you to show your air pistol?

I specifically got my enhanced drivers licence when I had my boat as I used to frequently fish the lower Detroit River/Lake Erie where it is very easy to cross the international boundary line in open water and since 911 you had better have proper id if this happens. The enhanced drivers licence works for entering the US via land or by boat, but not by air. I have used it many times crossing by land and find it much more convient than carrying a passport - I always have my drivers licence with me.
