This is why when you get a new airgun, esp a offshore import. That you clean the barrel, before using it.

Packing grease and other junk.

This is what came out of my Artemis PP700SA. I find Chinese manufacturer love using Cosmoline, to preserve guns for storage.

Ah,

I didn't clean mine. I didn't know you had to clean on air guns as well.

I guess I can use a .22 cleaning rod, in a .22 pellet gun as well?

Yes. You gotta clean about anything that shoots a lead projectile down a barrel..

And yes can use 22 cal rod and brush to clean a 22..

Yes on the used rifle, it was rust.

I use goo gone ( as the cleaning solvent ) to clean my air rifle barrels. They say doesn't dry out the seals or combusts.

goo gone, interesting.

I have a spray bottle of that stuff.

Comes in handy when I get "new" vintage technology in, as it always needs cosmetic cleaning.

Seems there is now another use for it.

Goo Gone in the work shop is like Franks in the kitchen...I put that $hit on everything. :drinkers:

Alot of my cleaning/maintence supplies for my guns ( firearms and airguns ) are stuff you can buy from automotive section.

Pellgun Oil = 30W non detergent Oil.
ATF to clean.
3 in 1 oil, a grease, or rust check ( I use rust check down barrels for storage )
Goo gone.

Only actual product that gun related is the Amsoil gun oil that I wipe down guns, and a copper bore solvent.

rust check down the barrel does make a lot of sense if you are gonna put a gone away for a long time and not use it.

The best thing storage wise is to choose a place that is rather dry.

I just use the cheapest motor oil I can find at walmart and apply a light coat of it onto the outside of my guns to prevent rust, works no problem. Some guns have been in the gun cabinet for months, and no rust yet.

Have to clean my new QB78S that is due to arrive shortly. :D See what kinda gems come out of it.

Yeah alot of my firearms are from WW2. I don't shoot them much, maybe couple times a year. Unfortunately my house has no closets to put my gun cabinet in. So it's down in the unfinished basement, that also has the well.. So its high humidity as well. And being it's un finished it's really not heated. So my gun cabinet, I got golden rods and other heat sources to try and keep the moisture out.

I might get a new safe this year. Since it's a cheaper option then refinishing the basement.

Unfortunately motor oil doesn't do well with moisture. Turns milky. Why I used a proper gun oil.
