Just wondering if the height, once you've mounted a scope or red dot causes any issues with sighting it in?

Something you might consider is the Crosman 495MT clamp on barrel mounts intended for the 2240. I can attest to the fact that they fit perfectly and are solid. They don't just rely on clamp pressure to prevent rotation - they fit solidly against the lower tube as well. You have two options depending on whether you are willing to make a small mod to the gun. If you want the gun unmolested you can put both mounts ahead for the side covers. If you are willing to notch the side covers for clearance you could put one or both of the clamps further back on the gun. I am posting a couple of pics of my 747 with the mounts attached - one with the side cover off so you can see how they could be moved back. The pics have the scope mounted with Picatinny scope mounts reduced to the 11mm 495MT width with thin adapters. This was what I had on hand at the time. I believe I have some 11mm scope mounts now for when I get around to cleaning things up a bit.

I’ve seen those but I’m actually looking to mount a red dot with a weaver base.

Don’t see how they would be a barrel mount?

Which what IIeader used.

You put them in the weaver optic to covert it to dovetail. To put it on the Crosman 495MT clamp on barrel mounts. Or can use a dovetail to weaver rail adapter. Or just use the Sunoptic mount.

Just to shed a little light on the mount adapters. Note in the photo that the clamping point of the scope mount on the adapter is only a very small amount, probably less than 1/16 of an inch, above the clamping point of the adapter on the barrel mount. For a scope, which has a greater length than a red dot so extends back farther, this works OK - but with a red dot the rear extension of the Sun Optics would look better in my opinion.

Well I’ve been unable to find even one reference to anyone using a red dot on a Daisy 7xx with a Sun Optics barrel mount. I’m going to assume that it would probably be the same experience I had with the P17 which was the red dot sat too high, I ran out of adjustment trying to lower th aim point, which was an issue at closer distances.

Go with a small profile reddot, like a TRS25 clone, or a Fast Fire clone, that has a lower bore axis.

Can find them for under 30$ on ebay, or amazon.

You might want to try. Scope mount for IZh-46M. D&L has them (SM7900 ).
The Crosman mounts are just too wimpy with no strength to grab the barrel. KEN.
