I have the chance to pick up a Cil model 607 3" magnum for an excellent price , just wondering if anyone has experience with this gun as i can't find much info on it Online .The main question is if it can run steel shot .

They were a mid to late 70's import from south America- Brazil if memory serves me right, and pre-date steel shot by quite a bit.

If you really need to shoot steel for waterfowl, a modern shotgun would be your safest, and best bet....

Any need to be rude? You asked a public forum and my research I found its not safe or recommended to fire steel. Like said, was made before the time of steel shot.

Don't need real life experience to say that. But then again, it's not my face or hands.

I don't think it is likely to be unsafe to fire steel as the breech pressures are no different than lead shot loads.. What is likely
to happen is the steel (iron - of Tungsten Carbide) shot will expand the choke outwards, or perhaps even split the barrel at
the muzzle. I've seen both along with SxS's barrels loosened and ribs raised/broken, when people have fired steel (iron) shot
in guns not designed for the steel (iron) shot. All guns, apparently, are fine for use with bismuth shot, regardless of age.
Possible damage is something to be concerned about.
Old friend of mine, worked with his for 18 years before he retired, used steel in his loose action, old Belgium damascus SxS. The soft
muzzles merely expanded outwards, sideways, and didn't even separate the soldered tubes. He said it shot better and better and made
hitting easier which was due of course, to the wider patterns at close range. He's walk the creeks and shoot ducks as they rose off the
water as well as paddling along the shore of 6mile lake, taking ducks as they rose in the reeds. Close range works best with open chokes,
which is that the steel shot did to his old gun(early 1900's).
