I recently used up my bulk purchase of Tactical Crusader 12gm CO2 I got on clearance from Princess Auto a few years ago.

Now using Umarex 12 gm CO2 & Crosman 12 gm CO2.

I find that my shot count per 12 gm CO2 cartridge on same airguns, dropped a little (around 10%) when I switched to Umarex CO2, but increased a little when I used Crosman.

I shoot in an indoor range, so temperature is fairly consistent?

Can anyone please explain?

My gun repair guy told me that he get a little more shots per CO2 in same gun, with Crosman CO2 than Umarex? Does this sound right?

Could be Crosman fills their cartridges a little fuller I suppose.

I'm guessing Crosman have thinner cylinder walls, so they hold more volume.

I guess a test is in order for the actual answer.

Take 5 of each, weigh them full, and empty. Then cut them open to measure the wall thickness.

Recent test of the weight of CO2 in various cartridges.... https://hardairmagazine.com/reviews/how ... he-answer/

Crosman best at 12.2 gr. and Umarex worst at 11.7 gr.... about a 4% difference.... but individual cartridges had an even larger spread....

rsterne, thanks for the article. It explains a lot.

I now see why I am getting more shots per CO2 on average with Crosman, and less with Umarex.

Looks like my airgun repair person was right, in saying more shots on average per CO2 with Crosman.

Glad I stocked up on Crosman CO2 last time it was on sale @ Princess Auto.
