Not quite Schwartznegger and DeVito, but you get the idea....

.22 700-W Artemis on top

...and new .177 version of the same below.

Wood's a little darker on the new gun, and shows quite a bit more grain.
Haven't done much with it, other than cleaning the factory preservative gunk out of the bore, and running a few pellets through it to clear the synthetic oil out of the valve. Testing and targets to come later....
I is "pumped"

Two of those will give you quite a workout, almost "Pumping Iron" level.
The bottom one needs a scope transplant :D
Nice guns!

Finally got an almost normal ring spacing mount job done on the new .177:

Image

One of my old work-horse Banner 6-24 X 42mm A/O mil-dot's aboard.
I used the Sun Optics 3/8" to Weaver plate adapters. Front plate is retained by only one cross bolt- but it appears to still be a solid work-around for the short 3/8" rail on the front section of the breech.
Rings are Burris medium height Weaver Z's. There is still enough room under the scope for the 9 shot rotary mag to fit.

I also bought a rifle case for it at Cabela's which is pretty nice. There's a side pocket on it that looks like either of my side focus wheels will fit in there- just for future considerations.

Hoping to later this week get a chance to play with transfer ports, chronograph, and shoot for serious groups...

That's the best looking solution I have seen to those short rails
with a full size scope...

I like It..!

Sort of a mixed bag to report on tonight~ with mostly good news.

Image

This is the transfer port that came with the rifle. The air channel in it measures only .042" in diameter.
I switched it with the port out of the chaser pistol. I will leave that tiny port sized "as is" to experiment with CO-2 in the Chaser.
The opening in the port in the chaser is much bigger than the opening I made in the earlier .22 pumper. This is worth investigating after the new rifle excitement wears off a bit

Ran into a bit of trouble with soft front breech screws. The first was on the new rifle, and it's threads were stripped- likely through over-torquing at the factory with an air-driven tool. The threads in the tube seem to be fine. The replacement I came up with grips just fine.
The front breech screw in the chaser pistol stripped on me too- at the hex hole in the head. I managed to get it out by tapping a slightly over size torx bit into it. I will cut a slot into it with the diamond wheel on the dremel when I have time....

Now for the "impressive" performance news:

Image

At 8 pumps 8)
7.9 gr Die "D" Crosman boxed F/T domes.

I haven't run up averages, or extreme spreads yet.

Flattest string was at 3 pumps, with an extreme spread of 4.1 fps over ten shots. Just about bang right on at the 635 fps mark, eyeball averaged.

1 pump yields upper 390's with an extreme spread of 10.6 fps.

2 pumps yields low 550's with an extreme spread of 8.4 fps.

5 pumps yields low 720's with an extreme spread of 26.9 fps.

8 pumps yields upper 790's with an extreme spread of 30.2 fps.

For now, I will not be banking on any of those extreme spreads.
I have little experience with letter indexed die crosman pellets, and am more familiar with the old numerical index die system.
They look like nice pellets, with a well rounded face.
The gun is still passing oil from the valve. I figure I'm at about 80 shots in now- previous experience with the .22 says it will be another 40-60 shots before the gun settles down.

I am pleased as a pig in a poke (whatever that is) with this latest acquisition. The bit on transfer port flow hole diameters is very good news to me. It bodes well for the already decently shooting .22.

I'm going to have enough to keep me occupied for quite a while.

Hopefully over the bench on some tiny targets later this week...

Great information! That's impressive performance, especially getting over 500 fps at two pumps =)

Well...

This is promising!

Image

5 of the crosman 7.9 gr Field Target domes went into about .18" CTC at 12 meters.

I am impressed! Had the Banner set at it's wide open setting of 6X.

Will have to re-zero for off-hand work. I was using that new micro fibre cellulite soft case under the fore-arm for a front rest, and it is far too soft. I'll use one of the cheap little Allen cases that I ususally front rest on...

The long reach for the trigger is really noticeable on the bench- not so much off hand. I ended up using the rotary magazine , and the group shown was shot with it. .177 is kinda tiny to be fumbling into the single shot loading tray with those well rounded domes

Very accurate! Congrats! There is a trigger adjustment you probably found long ago all ready. I turned that in a bit on the pcp I was testing and it helped my accuracy quite a bit, not that I was doing as good as you are there. That's awesome!
I just tried an lr700w with a big transfer port today and switched to a PP800 spring and got in the 830's at 8 pumps, 835fps if I remember right. Pretty crazy! That was with 7.9gr crosman.
These guns really have the power perfect for 177. =)

Those boxed Field Target domes are nice pellets. My previous experience with those was the old die #2 in .22 cal and they were similarily accurate. They don't seem to be available any more....

It didn't occur to me to measure the Chaser transfer port. Will wait until next tear down.
I did do the mini bic gas button spring conversion. The factory sear spring was far too heavy.
I feel these triggers can be further improved by replacing the cross pins with pins that are closer in diameter to the holes in the triggers components....

These guns are capable of awesome velocities....
Not sure how well 830's would string in terms of extreme spread. Would be worth looking into...

What is the diameter of the flow hole on the port you used?
