I wanted something "special" and liked the nickel/black combination. I wanted to order it from D&L but unfortunately they couldn't order that model for some reason. So I ended up ordering it from Mundilar in Portugal. They ordered it from Weihrauch mid February and they received it beginning of April. They shipped it to me on the 8th, it arrived at customs on the 12th and released the 18th. I'm glad it went very smoothly, I was still a bit worried even though I didn't need a PAL to buy it.

I shot maybe 10 pellets in my basement, my first impression is that it feels very nice, sturdy and powerful. This is definitely not my grandfather's old pellet gun. Looking forward to getting a pellet trap, either buy one or make one with rubber mulch and start shooting targets 8)

It's VERY VERY nice!! A very nice gun and a very nice seller that gave the so smooth transition to bring the gun for you ~

I wanted that 30S @ .22 some time ago and same checking with D&L first however they just sold their last one and told me new shipment will be coming.... (We know now, it looks no new shipment for HW30 at all so far...)

I was lucky then got a 177 non PAL and same nice looking black & white color pattern from a gentleman here in the forum ~

Very nice rifle!!

Try to use make your own pellet trap with duct seal ~ very easy! And the HW30 is a very accurate gun, so you actually no need to make a big trap at all ~ I have a bigger one and a smaller one. And I now use the small one which just as big to hold two pieces of 3 inch size target stickers all the time....

And HW changed the design of the stock... Don't know if it brings more comfort to the shooters, but looks I like the classic shape better ~ : )

Cheers!ImageImage

Thanks YepYep!

It was your rifle that actually inspired me to get this model. 8) I've been reading a lot about making a trap and using duct seal is appealing but I'm not sure about plucking all those used pellets afterwards. But buying rubber mulch seems like a challenge around here so I might go that route after all.

[emoji38] really?! Yeah ~ I like the HW30 so much too ~

You can try to find the rubber mulch from the garden centers in Wal-Mart, Home Depot,. Lowes etc ~ not that hard to find after you know where you can find them ~ and spring time gardening season now, it would be very easy to find ~

As I shoot indoors, so don't want to get my room too dirty and mess I like to use duct seal better...

And I think the mulch can be much easier to get the pellets out from the box trap afterwards, but as it's piese by piece, in order to eliminate the chance that the lucky pellet gets through all of them via the gaps, I think your trap need to be much deeper vs if using duct seal that about 1/2 inch deep (a brick of the duct seal) should be well enough....

I can always try both methods, cheap and efficient both ways. Thanks for the tips.

Other than pulling large chunks of fused lead I don't pull out pellets. Must be a few thousand in there at any given time. Once in a while I tamp down the duct seal. I've been using it for more than 2 years 10,000+ pellets with no issues whatsoever. 1" thick easily stop 800+ fps 177 pellets.

Sorry about the sideways picture. Added a direct link below showing the trap upright.

duct seal is easy, but depending on the size of your trap, it can get expensive. I needed around 20 bars for mine, so that was $76 and then there was tax also.

That's a pretty amasing first gun! Especially considering most of us started with a RedRyder or some Chinese finger cutter.
You always remember your first one

My first one was a cheap Marksman pistol that looked like 1911.

I guess that for a sub 500 fps .22 the putty can be spread out a bit more.

My 2nd gun will probably be a P17 so a little cheaper for that one

1/4" steel plate - angled, deflects all pellets down onto the horizontal 2" wide plate on the bottom, then they simply roll forward onto the wooden deck, or wad up into a stuck-together mass
that easily fits into the lead pot.
I shoot all my air guns into this 'trap' including the Air Force Condor with 51gr. bullets. For shooting, I have a sheet of cardboard across the front. It is
quite quiet. No ringing or clanging.

Nice setup Daryl, I'm a bit surprised that it's relatively quiet. I guess if all four sides are tightly held it wont resonate too much.

Well Pinch, you can certainly find the Rubber Mulch in the Gardening section at any Home Depot location. That's where I got mine. I use the plain black color...but some locations only have the Brown. No matter...it really works great and you can re-use it over and over,,,just change the container after all four sides are disintegrated.

BTW, I have a HW-50S in the same nickel/stainless finish...that's the big brother to the HW-30... and it too came from Mundilar, Portugal. The stock is exquisitely made by Minelli of Italy and the wood/stainless metal finish is very distinctive. The synthetic black stocks were not yet released when I got my Weihrauch. It is in .177cal and is PAL rated. I'll have to post some pics in the Airgun Gallery at some point.
Good luck on your 'pellet trap' project.

I had originally planned on using steel plate for my backing but had changed my mind when taking into account the dust created when a lead pellet at 600 fps+ vaporizes when hitting something hard. Might not be enough to cause poisoning but I'd just rather not take any chances with my young family.

Hawk-i, I just checked again at Home Depot online for my area and they do have some now! :D

I read that the Minelli stocks are really nice. Rogério at Mundilar only gave me a choice of regular Birch or synthetic for the HW30. I originally wanted dark gray laminate but I think that's exclusive to Airguns of Arizona.

Cheers!
