Hi I'm thinking about getting a CO2 powered Beeman QB78S, the S is for synthetic. Caliber would be .22

I read decent reviews for this inexpensive airguns. I want the gun to be under 500fps, ( I already have enough rifles...)

saw the price online for around $160 to $180.

my question is ...is there something available now that is a better gun for not much more money.

what madders to me is accuracy for paper punching and under $200 plz

another question if I get the QB78S, what are my best bets for pellets? is there one kind of pellets that should do well in the gun? ( I know each gun is different, but sometimes one kind do well in most..)

what do you think...

thank you
stef

Aside from the stock and possibly the barrel band, you're looking at an air rifle with no plastic parts, and IMO it's a darn good start. I still keep a QB78 deluxe running on cartridges for the convenience it offers.

When they were Industry Brand, you could count on needing to do a complete tear down, clean, polish and lube to remove the factory "crunchiness"...but after that it was smooth sailing. Don't know how they are now.

Hard to go wrong with 15.8gr JSB's as a starting point.

A great gun for sure. Is the synthetic stock something you prefer over the wood stock?
The Qb78d is a nice option for not much more if you like wood, with the higher class barrel, but I'm assuming you like the synthetic look.
A light weight synthetic option is the Diana Chaser pistol/rifle kit. It only uses one co2 at a time so you get less shots, but it has a compartment in the pistol grip to hold a spare cartridge. It comes with a 7 shot magazine and single shot tray and costs about the same as the qb78s, and comes with two barrels, so is a pretty good deal. It also has a two stage adjustable trigger.
They should be available any day now across Canada at different airgun dealers, as the Diana dealer for Canada made all the dealers put in their orders back in January. I'm surprised they aren't here yet.

Regards,
Wes

Might want to consider the Artemis CR600W Multi Shot CO2 Air Rifle.

I was also looking at a QB78 in .22 but thought the single shot bolt action was a detraction. I know they sell (Archer Airguns) a mulit shot adaptor for the QB 78, but it is hard to find and drives up the price.

I bought a Artemis in .22 and am happy with it and the accuracy. Nice wood, convenient 7 shot mag. I get around 70 good shots from one CO2, so I load up 3 mag. and can shoot 21 shots before I need to stop to reload.

Price is comparable to the QB.

thank you all for your help. I will look at your suggestions

I believe I read somewhere the S version has the same barrel as the D. somewhat better one than standard version
Can someone confirm or deny this plz ?

I like wood better that plastic...actually I dislike synthetic stock.... most are junk. it's just that with a plastic stock, I won't care if I scratch it... but I will buy wood if you tell me they are more accurate ( after bedding maybe?)

regards
stef.

Looks like you're right, according to Archer Airguns it's a 15mm barrel.
My D version with 15mm barrel is really accurate. I've been so impressed. :)

I love the way my QB78S shoots. No problems there. Would hold air in beginning for days but now has a leak after 6 months so I put in one full CO2 then drop in an empty one and it gives me 40 shots and I just make sure I shoot the whole forty shots before I walk away. Will tear it down one day when time allows. I can tell you springers will never be the same after you shoot the QB78S. But saying this I have likely over 300 CO2 caplets threw it in six months. It is now my main shooter in my house. It is my only air rifle that gets shot daily. CHEERS!
