Here is the follow-up comparison between the two Atemis CR600W/Diana Stormrider PCP's I owned.

The first one has the Altaros Regulator fitted, the second one has the Lane Regulator fitted. Both set at around 75~80 bar. Fill pressure is 200 bar based on my hand pump gauge. Each target I fired group of five shots. Again the pellets used are the JSB Jumbo Straton 15.89g pointed pellets. Bulls eye size is 10mm in diameter. Distance to target is 10.4m.

The results are listed below:

1. Accuracy: both are about equal. Except for  very few flyers, all shots landed on the 10mm bulls eye.

2. Shot count: Altaros equipped rifle has less pressurized volume due to having an extra gauge block so the Regulated pressure can be monitored. It gets around 70~75 good shots before falling off reg. The Lane equipped rifle gets an amazing 150 accurate shots before falling off reg. Hats off to WesB. He obviously did a great job tuning the rifle initially.

3. Initial velocity: I set the regulotor to achieve 500 ft/s for both guns. The actual speed variation is much less with the Altaros Regulator. Say between 480~500 ft/s. The Lane Regulator would start at 500 ft/s, but then start to shoot faster then drop down to 470 ft/s
before falling off reg. I need to play around with the setting to see if I can smooth out the velocity curve on it.

My final conclusion is that I would choose the Lane Regulator over the Altaros mainly due to the  the super shot count advantage. Even with the wider variance in velocity. The accuracy did not suffer at all.

The sharp eyed reader will notice the barrels are not the same length. One came with the CR700 multi-pump barrel, the other one has the standard length. As it turned out the accuracy did not seem to be affected by the barrel length at all. Although I did notice the longer barrel equipped rifle will shoot a bit faster at the same setting, say 10~15 ft/s difference.

Forgot to mention the scope used on both is the Discovery AT2 3-12X44 AO.

Nice right up! I have one the cr600w co2 version came with the LR700 (21.65) barrel vs the stormrider 19 inch. I might actually chop and recrown it as I find it a bit too long expecially after airstripper is added. I prefer a more carbine (ish) length and everything ive read says sub500 fps co2 rifles don't really get much, if any gains after 18-19 inches whereas pcp's do like longer barrels.
You look like you ve got quite setup for basement range:)

Thanks Walther, excuse the mess on the bench, I should have cleaned it up before the photos were taken.

I actually prefer the look of the longer barrel. With the gauge behind the filler plug, the shorter barrel made the gun looking like the famous Winchester 94 lever action in the Western movies. However, my testing showed no performance gain.

That's some nice shooting there, Tom!

I have 2 of the Artemis pumpers, and don't mind the extra weight. Been getting good results in .22 with the A/A 16 gr dome. Still have some pellet work up to do with the .177, but it seems to really like the crosman 8.2 gr boxed F/T domes.

Think I'm falling off the fence on getting one of these pcp versions in

I like the empty crosman tins too, for bits and pieces that are not in use. The threaded lids make life a little easier.

Very good shooting Tom, and nice write up!
Wow 5 shots in each hole and so many holes. That's great consistency!

Wes

Thanks Doc, actually, the longer barrel just seemed a bit less accurate. I am using the same JSB Jumbo Straton .22 pellets. Since you have two with it, maybe you know the longer LR700 barrel better, any other suggestions for pellet choice? So far I have tried over 14 kinds of pellets from 4-5 manufacturers. This is the best for my rifles.

Thanks

Thanks Wes for introducing the CR600W PCP, so far they are my favourite to shoot. Accurate and easy to work on. Reasonable price as well. Highly recommended. Your great service support also made the difference.

Thanks

Tom

Thanks Tom, I'm glad! You've done great work on them yourself, making them that much better.

Top pellet in my .22 pumper seems to be the Jsb heavy at 18.3 gr.
It does well with the 16 gr. Poly-mag predators. Trajectory with them is a bit more forgiving.
IIRC I got a 5 shot group under a quarter inch at 20 yds with no wind with the predators.

Wow! 5 shots within a quarter inch at 20 yards. That is like almost the same hole! Excellent shooting!

Forgot to add that all of my Diana/Artemis shipped with oil filled valves and a bit of factory swarf as well.
My practice has become tear down and clean before any serious test work commences.
Still hard for me to not get a few first shots in before proper care...

A quarter inch on centers is a bit bigger than a caliber...

Wow, that's sure good for a pumper! Doesn't seem to bother the barrel free floating with the barrel band do far back. That's great.

That is some seriously good advice , there is some scary gunk in them when new. I was shocked at what came out my barrel and hammer tube area.
But hey this is hobby:)
