Here is the follow-up comparison between the two Atemis CR600W/Diana Stormrider PCP's I owned.
The first one has the Altaros Regulator fitted, the second one has the Lane Regulator fitted. Both set at around 75~80 bar. Fill pressure is 200 bar based on my hand pump gauge. Each target I fired group of five shots. Again the pellets used are the JSB Jumbo Straton 15.89g pointed pellets. Bulls eye size is 10mm in diameter. Distance to target is 10.4m.
The results are listed below:
1. Accuracy: both are about equal. Except for very few flyers, all shots landed on the 10mm bulls eye.
2. Shot count: Altaros equipped rifle has less pressurized volume due to having an extra gauge block so the Regulated pressure can be monitored. It gets around 70~75 good shots before falling off reg. The Lane equipped rifle gets an amazing 150 accurate shots before falling off reg. Hats off to WesB. He obviously did a great job tuning the rifle initially.
3. Initial velocity: I set the regulotor to achieve 500 ft/s for both guns. The actual speed variation is much less with the Altaros Regulator. Say between 480~500 ft/s. The Lane Regulator would start at 500 ft/s, but then start to shoot faster then drop down to 470 ft/s
before falling off reg. I need to play around with the setting to see if I can smooth out the velocity curve on it.
My final conclusion is that I would choose the Lane Regulator over the Altaros mainly due to the the super shot count advantage. Even with the wider variance in velocity. The accuracy did not suffer at all.
The sharp eyed reader will notice the barrels are not the same length. One came with the CR700 multi-pump barrel, the other one has the standard length. As it turned out the accuracy did not seem to be affected by the barrel length at all. Although I did notice the longer barrel equipped rifle will shoot a bit faster at the same setting, say 10~15 ft/s difference.
