This bit... Sear spring for QB's and Umarex Gauntlet.




I've contacted ∆∆∆∆∆∆.com with the part number two times and got sympathetic "I'll see if I can help" replys but no follow up.

The QB's and the Umarex Gauntlet use this part so if anyone knows a solid source for parts pls lmk. I would gladly buy $100 worth of Crosman 1377 parts from dealers to make it worth their time.



Sooooo with that out there let me tell u how I fixed it, temporarily...

I found a workable replacement using the torsion spring from a 3/8" toggle bolt. You know those fasteners you use on drywall when you can't hit a stud? Using two needle nose pliers I manipulated the spring to fit and was up and running 15 minutes later.

The downside is the toggle bolt spring is thinner wire and it broke about three months down the road. There is a second toggle bolt spring in the rifle now but it too will go.

I found this working windup toy on the ground and see that it has a appropriately sized torrsion spring so that what I got in the pocket but would much prefer to get a proper one.

Ahhhhh, so there is a bit of "McGyver" in all of us after all!

When I get a chance I'll take a look and see if such a spring exists in my collection of spare QB parts. You could also try contacting Steve (barbas929) and see if he has something kicking around in his QB tool box.

For another MacGyver fix, you could try using a hair clip spring. I have used them as trigger springs in one of my rimfire guns. Also could try a small safety pin.

You can use music wire to make your own springs. I used to get it from a local hobby store that sold model airplanes etc. It came in 12" or 36" lengths and super fine of a few thou to something like 1/8" thick. I'm sure you can get in online. They also sold tubing of alum or brass, which some people here may need to make transfer ports smaller, make a bushing or whatever. I think it's pretty handy to have various wire and tubes on hand.
