What do you guys mean when you say 2260 smooth tube?

A smooth tube is an aftermarket main tube ie not made by crosman. ie Don Cothran or alliance hobby tubes. They also are stronger since they have not steel stamping weakening the walls. "for pcp use"
RCMP use ing the "lawyer lettering" printed or stamped on the tubes for classifying arguns. If you use a smooth tube then you become the manufacturer and as such get to decide its designation.

Still listed as a 2260 maintube.. No matter the company. So you can Machine a 1911 frame, without serial numbers. Its still going to be a 1911.

I can't see how an unmarked tube would listed period. As long as it is sub pal and over 26 inches , it's just an air rifle.
2289,2250, definitely pistols period and don't go over500.

RCMP make no sense. But I can see them calling it a 2260, even if it's not engraved. But no police will know, it would be up to the lab. I just always had my license, so I never really worried. Just I seen smooth tubes listed under 2260.

Only way for the OP to truly make the 2289 into a rifle, is to use a 2100, 760, or other pump main tube from a rifle. Someone here did that, I believe out of a 140.

That's pretty powerful already ~ and as said, the 2289 is actually designed to be within the limit. And it's the survive gun in the Z -Days too?! :D
