 Post subject: 22xx valve spring

I'm curious does the Crosman 22XX valve spring really do anything except hold the valve closed until pressurized,then the pressure does all the work holding the valve until empty?

Any thoughts on this...

Pretty much.... Removing it will increase the dwell slightly, and you will have to compensate with a reduction in hammer spring.... Particularly on the short barreled 2240 they waste a lot of CO2 anyways, so a lighter hammer spring will save a lot of gas....
