I thought I would share something with my friends on the forum

It is common news at my workplace; so time to share it with you all...

I have been diagnosed with ALS.

About 4 months ago now.

My speech is severely impaired; my right leg is very weak; and my sense of balance is impaired.

Aside from that - I AM FINE!

NO prognosis - I take it one day at a time...

No tears for me!

I still work as a Lot Associate at Home Depot; just my shifts have been cut in half; so 4 hours of work instead of 8.

I still get the job done!!

But no more shooting of any air guns; but I still keep a close watch on this forum.

NO sympathy please; just letting you in my little secret.

Leon Yrag has seen me in my condition and as he can tell you I am fine!

Horrible news to hear, but I’m glad your spirits are up. I had a girlfriend who lost her father at a young age to ALS. Remember it will get frustrating and try your best not take it out on those around you.

Only fond memories!

It's really a bad news! However glad to see you keeping things up!

Why quit shooting? Even tho you can't do precisely target shooting now, you can still enjoy plinking pop cans! You will need full auto BB guns now!

All the best!!

I live in an apartment now; and no shooting allowed; and i can not make my way to any other location to shoot due to my only using the bus now; and any inability to shoot with my bum right leg and my sense of balance being off,,, :(

Rather then saying I cannot. What about a wheel chair? I know many people that shoot using one. It will help you get mobile for those days that your legs are not feeling it.

Not quite ready for a wheel chair yet; I still treasure my ability to shuffle around...

Don't say no to a wheel chair so quick~ It's a challenging "sport" as I found it's interesting last time I was waiting in the airport with my son to pickup my wife and daughter... it's boring and I took a wheel chair and sit in it to play with my 6 years old son... Never know it can be so agile and flexble~ it's a good memory. As you are not having to use a wheel chair yet, I think it's a best time for you to own a wheel chair (or just apply for one?) as you can play with it... not just have to use it~ Sounds reasonable, right?

Attitude Doug , and you have it ......
You will now have to join my club.
I haven't shot airguns in 20 years , but my passion for airguns has not changed.
Still buy , sell and trade airguns daily , because airguns are my life ......
But don't tell my wife that I said that.
Love you always
