I wonder why some pistols do not have a rail for laser, scope or red dot. It seems that the lack of this feature would deter some buyers who want this feature as opposed to only open sights. Is it because this would affect the visual appeal of some models?

Personally I find to many manufactures are putting rails on stuff and kinda ruin the appearance. Plus not everybody wants rails. But there should be an option for a accessory rail for those who do.

Like they make pistols for IPSC, yet they put a rail on it. I shoot PPC with a CZ 75 SP01 and it has a under rail, There is a position I shoot in, that rail acts like a cheese grater. Short of me tig welding, and machining. Im stuck with it.

But to answer your question, probably comes down to cost, or design. Though I'm kinda upset with the new Triple threat, 8" barrel with a rail would be nice. I wanted it for mice, and longer barrel, more velocity, little quieter. Guess I gotta duct tape the flash light on.

Sometimes it boils down to if the airgun is a replica of a real firearm. If the original did not have rails, the airgun replica may not either.

For example, old school Colt 1911's & other WWI & II guns, Colt peacemakers, Uzi's, etc.

And sometime it does come down to extra cost, but not always. The Umarex XBG & XCP can be bought for less than $30, yet they have rails.
