HI all...
Good advices here, as I am also quite new to this world of airguns, and having requirements similar To the OP... except I my targets would be the furry ones that are squatting the bird feeders...
So, I would prefer something somewhat quieter in that range in order not to let the neighbourhood sleep :-)

I already have a 1377 and a 1322. The 1377 have some mods: piston + valve + extended-bolt-and-handle upgraded and I am considering adding to the 1377 a crosman stock, a steel breech to put a red-dot scope + a better barrel band with Fluo front sight an and a longer 14" barrel...
I like better the 1377 vs 1322, because loudness is less with it, but I am having hard time to get consistency with precise shots with the 13xx using the regular open sights... (actually, at my age, it's more my sight that is the problem. So with all these modes, I should get a better gun, and the addition of a scope or red-dot it should help a bit.

Whatever, I am also looking for a <500fps rifle that would be another tool in my arsenal. And I agree that investing in something that would last and provide me some pleasure shooting "regular" paper targets. I would not use them for carrying/ hunting, but size and weight does matter nonetheless. If I could "upgrade" it later, that would be a plus. My price Range would be between 300-500$ CAN let's say

I am interested in the Norica Black Eagle .22 Caliber Rifle that in on sale at S&A... seems a good price/quality ratio... (and they do have an "maintenance" kit)
but in my readings, I see that sidelevers such as the Diana 48 Striker w/ TO6 Trigger is very precise and people like it very much... (even though it's <500fps, i have my ppa, and much more expensive ) ...

I am still not decided what to get, but I will nonetheless, continue my 1377 mods in the meantime I figure that out...

Thanks in advance for any further advices

(btw, wondering what the OP have decided to commit on ?)

Welcome! Have you found or decided on anything yet? Where about are you located. Sometimes finding something local gives you the opportunity to try it out first (and save on shipping as well). I loved my Benji classic as one of my first rifles, very smooth (especially with the roller bearing trigger mod) and comfortable to hold/shoot. Anyways good luck on your search.

Not pushing a sale but I have this one up for grabs.

Not a .22 but......

Best shooting Springer I own is a Hatsan 35S I bought from Deals Store (Division of KW Surplus). Bought as Sub 500 but shoots 7.4 pellets a little faster than 500FPS. (525) It shoots lights out right out of the box. Paid $149 plus tax. Only Springer I own out of five that I have never opened up to work on to make it better. Rest of the money could go to a scope. But it is a 177. That's all I own is 177 that way it is cheaper to shoot and don't have to buy a ton of different pellets. They don't shoot cheap pellets (Grizzly 8.6 Wadcutters or Crosman 7.4 Wadcutters) I get rid of them. But I only shoot in the house at 30 feet. CHEERS!
