Anyone have trouble getting the nut tight enough to pierce the CO2 cylinder on a Umarex M712 Broomhandle? I have one that I have 2 magazines for and they are both the same. I can't get the nut tight enough on either to stop the cylinder from leaking once pierced. In fact, the metal nut insert in the plastic retainer that screws into the magazine just turn inside the plastic now so they can't be tightened. Anyone aware of a better/sturdier nut for these guns? Or know what the thread size is?

Yes, I can do that but what I was wondering, is if someone maybe made their own "custom" type of tightening nut. I will play around and see what I can come up with.

So is it a magazine issue or problem with the gun?

If just a mag issue, may be simplest solution to just replace the mag.

I have 2 magazines for it and they both do the same. When you tighten the nut to pierce the cylinder, it will pierce the cylinder but just to the point where the CO2 starts coming out. It's not tight enough to seal. On both mags, I have to tighten them so hard with the allen wrench that the little steel nut inside the plastic cap that screws into the bottom of the mag just starts spinning/slipping inside the plastic cap and you can't tighten them anymore. If the piercecing cap was a one piece metal type, problem would be solved. So I will play around making a one piece steel pierceing cap.

Sounds like you have a magazine problem, not a problem with your airgun.

Most repair centers don't do repairs to mags, as it is cheaper to replace them than to fix them.

Since it has happen twice, maybe call Umarex USA directly & ask for advise. I have found them to be helpful in the past.

Mags are considered a consumable part, but do have warranty.

Or would adding a thin washer to the bottom of the CO2 cylinder help?

But you might consider that by tightening them as hard as you have, you may have broken the mags. I had a similar problem with an Uzi mag. Could not fix it. Since it was old, I just bought another one.
