Sign up if you haven’t. The USA has the NRA with 5.5 million votes, they have some power in their country. In Canada we have 20,000+ members, there are over 2 million gun owners. We should have a higher buy in, it’s only $40 a year!

Write your thoughts to the Government, we shouldn’t sit idly by like good polite Canadians.

Quote:
Dear Minister Blair;

I am writing to you today to express my deep concern with actions our government is taking to target lawful gun owners. You have stated publicly that you would be supporting a ban on legally acquired firearms from lawful owners and would be implementing a buy back program. I feel this to be a form of theft, and a waste of tax payer money.

It hasn’t worked in New Zealand, their program has seen something like a 16% compliance, and the expiry is this week I believe. A huge waste of money, and think of what New Zealand has to spend to enforce the remaining 84%.

I ask that our government reconsider investing this money in programs and measures to combat mental health issues, the illegal flow of guns from the USA, and local crime.

It is incumbent on you and your colleagues to make every legitimate effort to fight actual cause of most gun violence; Illegal guns flowing into gang’s hands.

The shootings we see on the news in Canada are almost all gang related and have nothing to do with legal gun owners or legally registered guns. Yes the highest rate of gun related deaths (80%) are suicide, but that’s not what costs you votes. That doesn’t make the news and affect the average Canadian.

Please do some independent research on gun violence, Canada is not the USA. We can’t allow sensationalized USA news coverage steal the rights of honest law abiding Canadians. Please bring forth your ideas to the Commons where it may be studied and debated by Members of Parliament.

The rights are slowly being stolen from Canadians, I fear for my two boys that they’ll not be able to experience freedom.

Thank you for reading,
Jason C.

US also has a constitution that shall not be infringed. US also has patriotism, something I barely see in Canada anymore.

Problem with CCFR, they are in a fight with NFA. And NFA no compromise and AGM financial censorship made them lose alot of members. Personally these groups need to not have a FB page, they may not condone what being said, but its on their page and many people clearly don't set the example. They should be for information only, not opinions, or comments like, I like to see them try.

Ive written MPs and such. Rather then telling them they are wrong, an it doesn't work. I more told them, what it means to me, to be a firearm owner. Everybody has one of those stories why they did something, or who they lived up to. I'm using something they can relate to to understand.

Yes suicides make the news and effect the avg person. My realtor husband ( Paramedic ) that I sold my 4 runner to ( now I have a house trying to track that down ) shot and killed himself couple years ago. He was also my mothers neighbor. That stuck the community hard. A guy on tour when I was over, killed his wife and kids, and himself couple years ago. Young person at a rental gun range a year ago. Every one of my Veteran and serving friends that killed their self made the new. You bet, it effects the avg person.

As for the rental ranges, why most ranges have a policy not to rent to single, un licensed people. It cuts down on the gun suicides.

Well I didn’t post this to argue with anyone, so all your points are valid. Do it your way, but do something. That’s the problem, most Canadians are just like “aww $h1t, they’re gonna take my guns.” And sit and wait for it to happen.

More voices are needed.

Great read, amazing points. I too like many many others worry about the future of my children. If you follow history then this gun situation has you very concerned.
