Picked up a Ruger MK IV 10" Target bull barrel/receiver assembly. The 10" assembly can be swapped with either my MK IV 5.5" bull bbl Target model or one of my MK IV 22/45 4.4" Lite models. Pictures showing the different configurations.

That's looks great!
The MK-IV is on my list after I receive my RPAL I will seriously consider buying one... Didn't know it can be so easily swapping barrels and make a completely different gun! I like the long barrel so much!

In Canada the Ruger MKI/II/III/IV including the 22/45 series, the barrel receiver is the registered part. So you basically would have, 2 registered guns. It's opposite then any other handgun, where normally the frame is the registered part.

10" model is pretty $$$ I paid like 400 CAD for my 5.5" 22/45 MKIII, MSRP for the 10" model is 645 USD ( 843 CAD + Tax )

since I have multiple MK IV series pistols I did not want to buy another one just to get a 10" bull bbl model

so bought a brand new takeoff

Link for blue $165

Link for stainless $175

Yeah... The powder burners are really expensive than air guns... So although I need to register the 'same gun' twice, it's still a bit cheaper than buy another full gun, right?

Well you'll have 2 separate registrations, because it would be 2 different guns. Say you order from that site, you'll need a company like Irunguns or Aztech Armory, or Prophet river to import it for you. You'll probably be able to find a Ruger MK II 10" model for 400$.

Personally Ruger Warranty place in Canada, and latest quality control, or lack their of, turned me away from Rugers. I prefer the Browning Buckmark. Biggest complaint people have with the Rugers MK III and below is the take down and assembly, But I never found it to be a problem.

I heard about the quality issue with Mk3 too. But looks Mk4 turns better?

Yeah, I would love the Buckmark for sure although I was a bit disappointed by the pellet version, [emoji38]

And, quick rookie question... Anything will go wrong with the two registries with a Mk4 and a up assembly?

Don't compare the pellet version to the real deal. They're miles apart in quality. My target Buckmark has a 2# trigger.

The upper is the registered part on the Ruger MK/2245 series, not the frame. Think of it like this. You buy 2 Remington 700 rifles, one in 223, and one in 22-250. You sell the trigger assembly off the 22-250 and the stock. You're left with a barreled action. All you gotta do is put the trigger assembly and stock on the 22-250 from the 223 and got a working gun. You still technically have 2 firearms. Even if it won't shoot.

The importer may register it as a frame/receiver only or they will register it as a complete gun. Thru the CFP upon importing. Not quite sure, not many have done this, that I heard of. I would call the CFP and ask them.

To me I would see it as a frame receiver only since it's not functional, but you normally would have 30 days to register it to a complete gun. Meaning take it to the range as a 5.5" model, swap receivers, shoot it, and when done put the 5.5" barreled receiver back.

Seems many just go with the Ruger, over the Buckmark. For the aftermarket support. Beware, you can sink alot of money into a Ruger.
