Illingworth has a couple of S&W 41 pistols for sale. It's been quite a while since I owned powder burning handguns so I don't know if the price is good or not.

http://www.canada-shops.com/Stores/siar ... 665.2.html

www.gunsnthings.ca has a used Ruger 22/45 for $349.

Cheers,
Todd

For years I had both a Ruger Mark II .22 target auto with a 6 7/8" barrel and a Smith & Wesson K-22 Masterpiece revolver with a 6" barrel.
I sold the Ruger and kept the S&W.
.22 revolvers shoot BB Caps & CBs with minimal noise.
Even if you live in the city, you can shoot in the basement.
Automatics only cycle with long rifle ammo.
Only place one can shoot an automatic is at a licensed range with a transport permit and no en route stops.
Revolvers are fun to shoot at tossed cans with .22 shotshells.
Automatics jam with shot shells.
Revolvers will function with wax bullets for indoor quick draw practice.
Pull the bullets and dump the powder from .22 shorts and press the cases into a 3/8" slab of parrafin wax.

As far as I know the onlytwo places you're allowed to take hand guns are ranges and gun shows - you have to get permission each time. After a while, year maybe, if you frequent the same club a lot you maybe get like 6 months or a years worth of permission to take it there without having to request each time.

As for getting your Restricted license I just took the course and it was easy. If you passed the non-restricted it isn't much tougher... if any.

As for purchasing a handgun I think one of the rules for that is you must belong to a gun club or have OFFICIAL gun collector status. Just saying you own 3 guns wouldn't cut it. It needs to be government appointed status.

I have the Ruger MarkII in tapered barrel and you cant wrench that pistol out of my hands :D, very, very accurate, when I was a bit younger our fun amongs shooters was to shoot at an empty 50rnd, .22 box at 50m+, today my eye site is not what it use to be :(, but the pistol is still as accurate.
