Hi, I'm looking for some how-to information to rebuild a stock for a Crosman Quest. What I have is a stock with the fore stock cut off clean just aft of the side mounting screws. I would like to rebuild the fore stock with contrasting wood so it would look something like in the picture below, mine would have a much longer piece added on but same idea. Since the stock is for a break barrel it has to have a slot for the barrel and breach to swing between both sides. Any pointers appreciated.

This looks like a piece of ebony, that's quite common on custom rifle stocks. Our very own Joe Hickey made gorgeous stocks with that feature, I'm sure you remember seeing them  . I never did it, but I believe slow setting epoxy is used to glue it in place. As for ebony, I think you can get it in small pieces in hobby/craft stores, or surely online. Good luck with your project, I'll follow this post!

I would suggest you add a dowel to attach a forend tip for that, if you just glue something on that, it will eventually come apart as its an end grain attach, it is not advisable to glue together end grain, that's why the dowel keep it attached together. watch this video from MidwayUSA

No idea, I bought a batch of "firearm" cleaning supplies with odds and ends off MaxSold and it was in there, seems a shame to throw it out.
I am looking more for advice on how to mill the details, I will use dowels in the joinery.
Should I attach 2 side pieces individually or attach a uni-block and then cut the slot in it?
Need the advice of experience here, although I do appreciate the well wishers.

I have pondered, i think my course of action will be to use 2 pieces of wood, one on either side and I'll make them sit flush with the inner surfaces of the fore stock slot. I'll use a removable filler piece that fits in the slot while gluing. There will be 2 wood dowels in each joint, 1/4" diameter. I'll router the bedding grove after gluing and then finish shaping the fore stock. I don't have recent experience with fine joinery - but i was into it back in the 80s. Fingers crossed I can make some silk out of these pig ears.

Had a lot of free time, and a stressful week so did some stress relief in the workshop. Here is step 1, dowel and glued 2 pieces of Birch on the end of the stock, marked it out roughly for routing the bed.
