Well, social distance and isolation lead to boredom, not to mention an hour extra a day to do stuff rather than driving to and from work. So, I turned my attention to beautifying my latest 953.

The air stripper was 3D printed in ASA and has a SS insert tube. I shaped the butt extension from scrap aluminum, 1/8" sheet and thick walled 1/2" tube.

I went with a black and silver theme, and I think it turned out really nice. It is a really accurate shooter, and it makes 500 fps with 2 pumps.

I'm not being a smartass here - just pump it twice. I know this is not supposed to work but it does. It's been discussed here before. If you have a chrono try it out.

It doesn't need a full two pumps. I discovered this when running some chrono tests and accidentally gave the 953 a half pump and started over with a second full pump. My 953 has a filled piston and was shooting 7.9g pellets at exactly 500fps. With two pumps I get 530fps.

If you're interested, here's the original thread (from 6 years ago) where I was playing around with two chronos. Go down to the last four or so posts from the end:

And that's how its done. I observed not only an increase in fps with 2 pumps, but also a very small ES of about 8 fps at most. With one pump ES was about 20 fps with a max of 480 fps. One pump is supposed to do it, but the valve can still take a bit more, so the second pump fills the valve to capacity, the remainder just gets bled off and the shots are powerful and consistent. Similar to a multi pumper, after a certain point the power curve peaks or flattens. With the 953, that point seems to be 1.5 pumps, but I haven't experimented with a half pump. It's likely the valve will regulate itself, so thanks for the tip - I'll try half pump extra and see how it goes. :drinkers:

the valve in the 953 is made of pot metal, while you might get away for a while
with two pumps its not made for that kind of a load, so you might eventually develop a
crack in the valve....

I do like that style stock spacer. I just sanded down a piece of 2x4 to fit the shape of the stock. FYI 2 pumps will also make it go over the limit at least with my gun. I was just curious and did the test.

I tried my chinese muzzle chrony and 7.4s Crosman Wadcutters. I seen the best ES with 1 pump which avg 470.42 FPS, 2 pumps was avg 513.7.

1 Pump

475.7
472.4
469.1
469.1
465.8

2 pumps

511.8
501.9
511.8
518.3
524.9

It's consistent with my results, try with standard weight 7.9 gr (Crosman domes etc) should stay at or near the limit. But it's neither here or there, because used as designed its well below.
