Hey guys, hope all of you are well, like most of us I've been bored with this social distancing so figured i'd share the precharged pistol I had built a while back. tube is shortened disco, 22xx gripframe, barrel I made and rifled but is salvaged from my caselman project, front sight is fabbed, breech is one I cast from aluminum. I am in the process of building wood grips now. .375 is a pretty heavy payload for this pistol and the 80 grn. lead ball I get around 4 shots plus a weaker last starting in the 460, 465, 469, 479, and 380. the slugs are from a lee mold I milled down to lighten from 130grn to 104, havent chrony'd the slugs yet but suspect they will be a bit slower, hoping they will seal in the barrel like my greysquirrel gun, that seems to like them. Stay safe all.

cheers-Matt

Yep! That's a very nice one!!
The speed is consistent, how about the accuracy? Can't find lighter slugs at this caliber to maintain a better balance to improve accuracy than the lead balls??

@ pistolero, I cast the breech using a steel form, basically a pipe with a notch cut out the length of the bottom, then a reversed section inlaid and spot welded to give shape to sit on maintube, then i used steel bushings at the ends, a steel rod run down the center, then left a small spot to tack weld a steel pipe as a funnel to pour molten aluminum into the whole thing. It's a sketchy dangerous way but unless you have machining equipment.......the rod doesn't like to come out so i had a "T" handle on the end and once poured i wriggled the rod to get clearance then had to put back in the forge to get aluminum soft again, I learned the hard way to let it all cool slowly and the aluminum shrinks back a tiny bit giving a lil clearance to help remove the rod. first attempt i quenched when hot only to find the aluminum shrunk back too fast and cracked in half.

YepYep, I've tried to build a actual pellet mold, didnt work out, all i could find was the lead ball and slug mold, originally the ball were for the caselman i built and ball was easier to feed in a tube mag, still may mod the slugs some more but if someone could build me a pellet mold that would be fantastic!

Very interesting indeed. I thought everyone had at least one .375RB mould.
I do, but cannot remember why.
