I have a Crosman 357 Co2 revolver that even though it is over 10 years old has had barely two magazines shot through it.

I decided to dig it out today and shoot it and the barrel will not unlatch to swing open.

The latch button just doesn't budge. The revolver remains locked up tight.

What could be the problem?

It has been stored in a dry cool location.

Crosman in their infinite wisdom used a small rubber wedge as a spring for that latch. Over time, the rubber turns to something more resembling rock. Gravel usually has them in stock...or try R&R.

Thanks Al.

But I still have the problem of how to get the barrel to swing open.

Like ratchetman said, you'll have to get out your screwdriver, take the hinge screw out and swing the barrel assembly upwards and off. I have a pic on another post here of my old 357 that I replaced the rubber wedge with 3-4 coils of a small stiff spring, works fine for me. If you aren't comfortable taking the gun apart, you may need to take it to somone, just be careful, a buddy brought me one 357 in a bag....yep he forgot to take the co2 out and blew parts everywhere....luckily only missing a cpl lil things which I had. Hope this helps.

Thank you. I can do it. I have completely stripped and reassembled a Marlin 336 before, as well as the trigger mechanisms of a US Model of 1917 30-06 and my Remington 870 shotgun too. One screw should be doable.
