Hi all,

Finally had time (what else is there now!) and got myself an Umarex blowback Luger P.08. I chose that because my father used to have a real one, from 1908.

And boy, this thing is just like the real thing. Can be field disassembled too, just like the real thing. Amazing.

Now... I live in Orleans, Ottawa. Having moved there recently.

Is there anywhere we can shoot these? I’m dying to try it out...

Mike

Welcome!

Definitely a fun gun you have. Tip: you'll get lots more shots (and more consistent) shots pausing a few seconds before the next shot. Confine rapid shooting to those moments you just feel you have to

Most who use BB guns shoot them in the privacy of their home. Is your basement suitable? Searching the relevant posts on this forum, you'll discover most if not all Canadian municipalities prohibit discharging even the humble BB gun anywhere within their jurisdiction (with controlled exceptions, Ee.g., a shooting range). However, I think few to none of the active shooters on this forum have ever heard of someone being investigated when the usage is safe and non-disruptive/destructive. Beyond that, the restrictions/opportunities are location-controlled and vary from province-to-province, situation-to-situation and firearm-to-firearm.

Hope this helps. Please add your location to your profile so when you ask similar questions, members will know from which part of the country you are enquiring.

“firearm” means any class or type of gun or other firearm including a shotgun, rifle, airgun, spring-gun, longbow or crossbow;

Yes, I’d already decided that, having looked at a few videos (and understanding basic physics, haha)

Thanks, and will do!

Basement is hardly suitable, because I live in rented accommodation and can’t afford even the slighted nick in drywall etc...

Thank you.

Not being a lawyer, I have trouble understanding this. For example, I live south of Trim and Innes. That area is not shaded: is it therefore potentially permitted?

Sorry to seem thick but it’s all quite easy to misinterpret m it seems to me (not being a lawyer...)

IT gets pretty THICK with sections 4, 5, etc referencing areas that are not shaded.

It sure does, and I am not sure I get all the implications. If they're not shaded, can I use an airgun there? Surely there are still restrictions.

Yes, basement makes a lot of sense - but rented accomodations so it's not MY basement :-((

Do you mean the basement is not yours because you live in a rental unit, or do you mean you do not have access to the basement as a part of your rental agreement?

Could you, perhaps, describe your residence details.

I share a house with its owner - I have a room plus use of the rest. But he’s very very clean and tidy and I’m quite sure he’d be upset at the slightest scratch.

One thing is like is at least a way to fire off a few shots, even just I to a trap, to make sure it works ok... But without any danger of damage to the home!

for now, you can fire that pistol and leave the BBs out of it...

test the seals, CO2 (ask 'do i need PellGun Oil on every CO2 capsule?'), handle, fondle, make noise, blowback!

maybe mr. landlord would like to try?
see? harmless fun. noisemaker.

then buy him a Beeman P17 for his birthday.
soon it'll be HIS target you're shooting into.

Done that, first thing! Yes with Pellgun oil.
But it needs the clip removed after every shot because it doesn’t reload without BBs.

Alas, he didn’t even want to hold the Airgun (even though I showed him it was empty and without clip) because he’s “not at all a gun guy” - I don’t think he approves... :-)
