I've had an air-rifle since I was a teenager and have regained interests recently.
I find it's a much more practical sport then sport shooting with firearms, cheaper and much more quiet!
Even though I live in the country, it's cottage country so out of respect to the neighbours I'm avoiding noise.
I've upgraded my spring so it is now considered a firearm. I'm using a break action.
I bought a peep sight from Williams - a wonderful little thing!
Cheers

Welcome DLG. I hope you enjoy your stay.
What rifle have you got now?
Most of us have a "collection" of some sort - they are just so much fun and so much variety, they are like potato chips - can't have just one.

Duke,
It's a basic Hatsan 55, my dad got it for a bargain at the hardware store.
I'd like to find one that's a single piece barrel so that I can have long sights without a break in the middle.
I really didn't like the factory sight being half way down the barrel. Too difficult to get a clear view.
I've never used a pump air-rifle, and am thinking that would be the next move.
I know some youth who were in cadets and that's what they used.
Thanks for the note!
DG

True, most of our Cadets shot the Daisy 853 target rifle, it's a single stroke pneumatic, meaning one pump is all it takes to charge it. They typically have peep sights for target shooting and are relatively accurate. Daisy stopped making them a few years ago, but the come up for sale from time to time. You can also find Daisy 953 which is a plastic stock version with a good barrel (Not as high precision as the 853 LW barrels, but pretty decent nonetheless) - and quite a bit cheaper. Typically 953 don't have peeps, but can be added - and same cation so straight barrel as you call it! They are mouse fart quiet too so don't disturb neighbors. Have fun!
