Post subject: Budget Scope help 50-100 yards

Im looking to get a scope and my budget is around 250 CAD.
as being a newbe have 2 questions When shooting 50 to 100 yards with my Diana 52

What magnification should i be looking for on 1” targets
Does a First focal point crosshair get to big for 1” targets
What budget scope That will hold up do you guys recommend that i can pick up from Canadian suppliers.

This would be my personal recommendation based on the parameters you’ve set out. A ton of good reviews, I have the static 4 power Vantage and it’s awesome, great clarity and I love it.

It has the 1” mono tube which should stand up well to the spring, and it has the Hawke worldwide warranty.

Im a bit surprised, is a 4 power enough for a 1” bullseye at 50-100yards I think it might be a little low.

I think at 100 yards you'll need at least 6-24 power and up depending on the tube size to see that 1 inch bullseye, get the discovery from airgun archery, Wes has decent pricing with very good service.

Yes I have been looking at the discovery scopes. The one i'm looking at is the HI 5-20x50

You’re right, more of a 25 yard scope. My mistake. You need the zoom factor, especially at 100. I never shoot Airguns out that distance so I’m not used to it.

For decades straight 4X scopes were the tried and true big game scopes, for shooting moose, elk, etc.
10X and 12X scopes were considered varmint (ground hog) scopes for mostly centre fire rifles.

For more pin-point accuracy & small targets, more power is desired. 12X is about minimum, 16X is great and more could be even better
as long as the scope is of sufficient quality to use it.

I am referring to maximum magnification of the scope for shooting out to 100yards, or more.
