Just got this last night.



A quick review for now, I'll add details below later.

Basic Specifications:

Caliber: .22
Length- 900mm / 633mm (Stock open/Folded)
Weight- 3.25kg
LOP- 310mm
Action- Single shot springer, side lever cocking
Sights- AK/SKS irons and the crappy u channel 11mm'ish dovetail scope rail.
Cost- $123.47 shipping included from Canada Shooting Supply ( Thanks Raman ! )

Compared to the 1322 with shoulder stock:







Pros:

-All steel and wood ! Only 2 pieces of plastic. The tip of the side lever and the cheek piece/ grip on the folding stock. The pistol grip and forearm are wood.
- Solid feeling
- Fairly quiet
- Decent accuracy (More to follow later)
-Compact

Cons:

-Terrible trigger. Was super gritty at first, smoothing out a little now. Very heavy, feels like 75 lbs
-The lousy scope mount ... but I can fix that.
-Lack of power (See chrony data below)

I shot a 10 round string over the chrony just to get a feel for the power:

A quick sum up:

Feels good in the hand, cocking force is not too bad. Sights could be better but it was built as a training rifle not an Olympic target rifle. The low power relegates it to target work and the low noise works for me as I shoot in my apartment.

Had one years ago......fun gun. Just watch your fingers in the breach......few people have lost finger tips in them.

Thanks for the info !

I always use my arm to block the lever while loading, I don't trust any springer. I even hold the cocking lever of my B4 (Underlever) while loading.

i'll block the lever on my QB57 with my arm but i just don't trust my B5..
so i only muzzle load it with round balls, then cock it. certain wadcutters feed well too.

the 'cheek piece' on the folding stock on the real Type 81 stores the cleaning kit.
i like how the rifle looks with it removed.

i found a steel mag modded for airsoft that i installed w/ JB Weld. the mag's thumb release lever is one of the adapters from a umarex BB speed loader.

Found out the hard way. I had the bullpup side lever one. I was assembling it and caught my hand with the piston.

They should put the safety mechanism like they did on the QB88.. Little lever that pops up, preventing the sleeve from going forward.

Very nice job installing the mag, looks almost real

That sounds painful

Yep a manual anti-beartrap would be nice but I doubt its ever going to happen.

there's guys here that actually modded the receiver to accept and release a real AK mag.
one poster also changed his foregrip to the the iconic AK style.

it would look as an original Chinese Type 81. (shown below).
there used to be a post about these.

how is the accuracy of this

the gun is accurate,
the/my sights are indistinct..

i've filed to widen the rear sight spacing to more easily acquire the front sight & to allow some 'play'. it's v narrow, and the front pin is a little piggy.

it's v easy to lose the front sight against a dark background. i've been trying to learn how the rear sight lines up with the ring of the hood that's over the front sight. this hooded sight has an opening on the top to allow light down to the sight. it helps. especially when the pin is painted.

i've painted the front sight red, yellow, now white.

i can't remember if i ever ran a scope on this gun but i'd prefer to use it 'rough and tumble' as, that's what it is!

Haven't done much accuracy testing yet but it groups ok.

I'll try to do some testing this weekend and post the results.
