Interesting!

"A search of a home uncovered multiple 3D printers, along with an assortment of manufactured firearm parts, according to police, including:

Pistol lower frames;
An assault rifle receiver and frame;
A bump stock for converting a semi-automatic firearm to fully automatic; and
Silencers.

The seized items were forwarded to the RCMP Forensic Science and Identification Services lab for examination and ballistics testing. Preliminary results confirmed the 3D-printed parts were functional.

Dan Forsyth, 53, is charged with

Offering to traffic firearms;
Manufacturing a restricted firearm;
Manufacturing a non-restricted firearm;
Manufacturing a prohibited device;
Possession of firearms for the purpose of trafficking;
Possession of a prohibited device for the purpose of trafficking;
Unauthorized possession of a non-restricted firearm;
Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm;
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon;
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device; and
Possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order.

He is scheduled to appear in court next Oct. 7.

Picture Butte is located about 200 kilometres south of Calgary.

So, not only was he making illegal product but he apparently didn't have a valid PAL or RPAL. Again proving that the Legal, licenced gun owners are NOT the problem.

Big brother is watching! 3D printer files of illegal parts are a natural place to trap the unsuspecting.
If you've ever contemplated downloading files like say silencer baffles for instance, you are setting yourself up for hard time.

Him being Prohibited from owning firearms And maybe 6 to 24 months in jail. Which is stupid, because he was already prohibited from owning firearms. That like someone being caught without a drivers license, because it was pulled and them saying don't drive. He will be back at doing it in a couple months.

I think I heard that name before.

- Possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order.

Only thing missing is "suspect was known to the police"

Have to wonder what the unauthorized prohibited "weapon" was?

Prohibited handguns and rifles I know about.

Are there authorizations for silencers and blowguns?

I thought those were devices?

What prohibited "weapon" has an available license?

He made AR15 lowers, which the government currently made prohib with the recent OIC ban.

Some firearm business can get licenses to own and sell suppressors.

Also technically any firearm in your possession for which you are not licenced is considered "prohibited". So if you have no PAL and have a .22LR rifle from gramps in the closet, you are in possession of a prohibited because you are not authorized to posses it without PAL.

Well you would be charged "Unauthorized possession of a non-restricted firearm" for having gramps 22 without a license.

Offering to traffic firearms;
Manufacturing a restricted firearm; ( Making a pistol frame )
Manufacturing a non-restricted firearm; ( not sure what, don't see anything that would be NR.)
Manufacturing a prohibited device; ( Making a Bump Stock, baffles, and suppressors )
Possession of firearms for the purpose of trafficking; ( Intent to sell them to others )
Possession of a prohibited device for the purpose of trafficking; ( Printing the baffles, and silencer )
Unauthorized possession of a non-restricted firearm; ( Didn't have a license for a firearm that was Non Restricted )
Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm; ( Had restricted pistol frames )
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon; ( AR15 recent OIC ban)
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device; and ( Silencer and doesn't have a business license for one )
Possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order. ( Was charged with a crime, that prevented him from getting a license, so had no license )

Correct, however you are still technically "prohibited' from owning or being in possession of the rifle because you are not licenced. I understand the wording of the actual charge is what you have said.

Yes but Daryl, A a former peace officer, was asking about the unauthorized prohibited "weapon" was.. Because no new firearms members can't get 12X license, unless you father gives you a pre 45, 12-6 under 106mm pistol. No other firearm class can be grandfathered. He knows that, but the answer to the question was AR15, and variants. Which used to be Restricted, prior to the OIC ban.

not weapons - that was one of the points.
The AR lower is not a weapon unless you hit someone with it. It is a device only.
It is all about the technicalities (as far as the courts are concerned) of weapon, firearm and device
and of course, the media report might have them mixed up as well.

Device would be the suppressor, prohibited weapon would be the AR lower in the context of the charges. AR15 lowers are the registered part of the firearm.

Quote:
Weapon Defined
Section 2 of the Criminal Code includes the definition of weapon:

“Weapon” means any thing used, designed to be used or intended for use

(a) in causing death or injury to any person, or
(b) for the purpose of threatening or intimidating any person
and, without restricting the generality of the foregoing, includes a firearm.
