I have a cheap roebel .177 pellet rifle. When you crack the barrel to load a pellet there is an o-ring that seems to be made of leather that seals the breach.
It has deteriorated creating air loss. Can you replace this seal? Can it be replaced with a seal made of silicone?

You could probably use an Oring that you'll find at your hardware or auto parts store, or make a new one out of leather. Sometimes the Orings will have the correct diameters, but won't be thick enough. You can use paper or plastic soda bottle to ''build'' a shim to compensate. HTH.
