I dislike these posts. Because by a mod posting these articles, saying that a ban is coming. Someone going to think because you are a mod, that the information is true, and will spread this rumor. It will cause people to fear, maybe sell their airguns and get out of the sport. When your opinion is just a opinion and not a fact.

Just because some are using them for criminal effect, shouldn't shine ALL air pistol users negative. So as an airgunner how many written their MP staying that they don't condone this. Because clearly Vancouver has a airgun problem that effects law abiding people.

The reality is there will probably be some very significant changes coming. With the steady increase of air pistols being used by fools to commit crimes do you really think the law is simply going to do nothing but watch the statistics rise.It will be very easy to get the general publics support for severe restrictions with airguns. Remember we are a minority.Fools
dont care if they mess things up for the rest of us.We can object to any new restrictions as much as we want but it wont help. Didn't help with the recent "assault weapons" ban so it sure as hell wont help with airguns.Air pistols may well go the way of the "Lawn Darts"

Well, there are few lawsuits is going on against latest gun ban, so there is slight hope. I think that what we can do is to promote air guns as much as we can, educate people on guns and help those who sue government. And of ocurse vote for those who aren't going after out guns. The more people have air guns the less likely political parties will try to restrict guns. But if majority people don't care I'm pretty sure that more gun bans will follow and there will be no gun to ban, they will start going after airguns.

1 "crime" - 3 charges.

The man believed to have pointed the replica weapon at the hotel was taken to police cells and is facing charges of"

1./ possession of a "weapon" for a dangerous purpose:

2/. pointing a firearm:

3/. use of an imitation firearm in the commission of an offense.

They will likely drop the first 2, for a guilty on the third. It's the way of things and the reason for the 1st 2 charges.

1st, it isn't a weapon unless he threw it at someone.

2nd, it isn't a firearm, by definition - capable of exceeding 500fps AND 4.2fpe.

& of course, it is perhaps one person's word against another person's word as to the pointing of the pistol, if no 'witnesses' come foreward.

imho, of course.

As to these types of offenses being the basis for further prohibitions, it's certainly possible for ANY of the lookalikes, which I had always thought
were pushing the boundaries of being prohibited in the first place.

imho, of course

quote leadslinger : "Just because some are using them for criminal effect, shouldn't shine ALL air pistol users negative. So as an airgunner how many written their MP staying that they don't condone this."

same with the May 1st firearms prohibitions and those which have taken place since. How many?
