I'm thinking of making a jump...

I'm a replica air gun shooter, but am tempted to get one affordable rifle, under $325 , and with a scope
just for plinking

Any thoughts on these?

I don't have a PAL so they would suffice. I don't know anything about long rifles, or scopes for that matter. Any thoughts would help

https://www.replicaairguns.ca/browning- ... cope-combo

or this one?

or...

The Ruger Airhawks are a decent gun. Better than most newer Crosmans. But most of us bought them when Walmart were selling them for 99$.

I honestly like my little QB 88 side lever.

You just know the price! However you don't have your PAL yet....

IMO, nothing is better than the HW30s from our forum store for 325$ as a starter rifle....

Isn't the Browing leverage on sale for $200 at Cabelas? Seems like a good value to me. Air hawks are ok. More accurate than I expected. As leadslinger mentioned $100 from Walmart when they were dumping stock. The best economy rifle I bought was a Daisy 953 which was $70 at TSC stores a few years ago. Too bad they are not commonly available anymore. Like most things if you bought used $300 could get you quite a good shooter but luck and patience is required.

As mentioned on my other post, learned how to invest my money a little bit more wisely (mainly on moding my 2240 and 1322...) I started shooting rifles with an used HW30s.

First of all, picking up a springers is a good choice! I tried PCP and still love my springers most. Simple, recoils, easy service, cheap parts......

HW (Weihrauch) has a very long products line covers rifles from 300$ to the 1000$ (yes, the covid thing and the logistic thing makes the prices all jumped up when new shipments arrives from Europe...) And They are famous about the good design, nice built and great German quality.

Break barrel springers are the most simplest one in the family.

The double recoils on a springer in the shooting circle would affect the scopes. So if you like tinkering, even an 'tuned in the factory' AA rifle, you can still find some work to do to make it shoots smoother. Back to the scope, must use something 'shock resistant' or better 'springer rated'.

For the rings and mount, better to use the ones with set screw underneath to fix its position on the action tube of the rifle.

Variable power AO scopes are good choice. 40mm objective len size is decent for an allrounder plinker. I.E. A 3-9x40mm or 4-12x40mm scopes. Wes ( https://airgunarcheryfun.ca/discovery-scopes/) carries nice Discovery scopes at good prices. Of course, buying a rifle with kit scope is a one stop good choice for beginner, but you will dump that scope into the drawer at some point for sure. So it's actually some kind of wasting money...

Enjoy~

Looks the smart phone App never catches what I want correctly....

Here is the link again...

http://www.airgunforum.ca/store/product_info.php?
cPath=22&products_id=232

But it's PAL rated... Just what a pity I don't think you have any chance to get that plastic card before 2021 summer even you act right now...

Hope you can find a good used non PAL one like me soon...

PAL not an option,
Wife does not like firearms, even airguns make her nervous.

If I even brought ups the fact of getting a PAL ??... Not going to happen,

So, that's it unfortunately

A HW30s will be much better than the 3 you mentioned at the beginning. And I don't see the need to get the 600fps PAL rated version and the non PAL 177 model will fit you need more than enough ~ You only need to find one with a little patient and luck...

Before I received my card, I already bought an full power spring in advance for my HW30... However, at the end, I didn't find any reason to 'upgrade' it from 495fps to 600fps.... Just loving it as is~

How about post and WITB ad here in the forum to see if anyone want to part with his??

I would skip these and go with a Diana 24/240, the ones made in Germany. They're great rifles, not much recoil, almost no twist and buzz.
The Weihrauch HW30 would also be a great rifle but a rarer so a bit more expensive.

I fully agree. In your budget and some coins left for a small scope (not that the 240 needs it!):

https://dlairgun.com/collections/diana- ... 40-classic

https://dlairgun.com/collections/center ... 32-ao-4032

I have a .177 24C T05, a .22 240 T01, and a .177 240 T05, all are excellent airguns for the price :).
