Hey fellow shooters,

I'd like to upgrade my scope from a Bushnell red/green dot to an actual scope, but have been warned that not all scopes can handle break barrel .22 air rifles. I have a Crosman Phantom which has a dovetail rail that measures 11.6mm with a micrometer... anything out there with raised mounts for about $100 CDN? Or am I dreaming? :?

Thanks in advance!

I recently got a Hawke Airmax 3-9x40 AO AMX for my springer, its a beauty. The glass etched reticle is a 10x Mil dot, and the parallax is spot-on. Its not cheap, but its certainly not the most expensive scope out there. I have become a bit tired of saving money and being disappointed, so I splurged this time and I'm glad I did!

That is indeed a nice scope, however slightly above what I want to spend. Perhaps I'll be responding to this post in a year going... "I should have listened!" Lol...

K, looks like the Discovery ones might be up my alley. I'm impressed with the "Not for magnum spring rifles" warning, which I have. I might just go for this puppy:

It does say "shockproof", so here's hoping... Thanks airmec.

It won't hurt to ask Wes about more detail and recommendations, he the expert knows the stuff he carries~

I put UTG 3-9X32 Bug Buster scope on Air Venturi TR5 back in February and so far it's good. Not sure what is my shot count but I expect it to be at least a 1000 shots, probably more that that.

This is my suggestion, I have a 4x32 that I got on amazon years ago but they cost too mich now, I paid 50 then and they want 200 now.

I had a friend who had this model and it looked pretty good when I saw it and if it lasts like mine then you should be good, you will have to get your own rings but a one piece is the way to go. Any of these should be good.

That Discovery scope says "shock proof", but it is not springer rated like the others that are rated for springers. On the site, I actually think it says"not springer rated". Beware. Could be throwing over $100 away on an inferior scope.

This is the minimum I would go with for a discovery scope:

I saw this one for sale and asked this question of other buyers off Amazon, I'm too am looking for a scope for my springer Diana 24.
These were the replies I got, ( The link to the scope is at the bottom )

I asked...
"Can this be used on a Diana 24 spring air gun that is rated under 500 fps de tuned for canada ?"

answered:
"I have one on a 3x Stoeger canadian air rifle. It works perfectly. Over a 1000 shots and it has not moved. It comes with 22mm scope rings. So you will need to buy 11mm scope rings for you gun. $20 bucks on amazon. Well worth it because this is a great scope."

Oli Hajzler answered:
"I do not see why not. I have it mounted on an older version (made in the seventies) of air rifle made by Slavia in the Czech Republic. It stays adjusted, where's the previous scope I had on there would loose its settings after just a few shots."

$52.00 free shipping

I have this very one, don't know if it's the ''old'' or ''new'' model, but I'm so glad I bought it! Glass is excellent, knobs are smooth and easy to operate, AO seems to be spot-on at all magnifications and weight is very reasonnable despite the ''big'' 30 mm tube. I find it compares advantageously to my Hawke scopes regarding quality. I don't use it on a springer airgun, but haven't had any issues with it. Well worth the money IMO.

I have a few Discovery scopes. They are all good so far on my rifles (from the less than 100$ VT1 to the higher grade VT3, ED series. However I don't put them on high power (more than 10fpe) rifles, and I don't have any magnum springers or the said very roughly shooting untuned Chinese springers.

I believe anyone will stay safe and works fine on a sub 500 Diana rifle~

And to my experience, I tried the mentioned 4-16 power compact design VT3, but I returned it and changed to the other one. it's all good, size, weight, power, glasses.... However I don't like the field of view which is a bit small and a too thick black circle on my sight picture, and the 16x power looks a bit over kill for my need. I suggest the 3-12x power ones in the same series ~ FFP or SFP for your own preference ~

I tried that scope on a Bam 28C in .22 cal. and the scope's power ring locked up in 20 shots. This is about as magnum a springer can get, I think.

Wow, looks awesome... though I wonder how it would perform on a magnum springer. Hate to burn through scopes just for the helluvit.
