To my Dad, who fought in WW2 with the RCNVR; my brother, Bill, who was a career officer in the RCAF; my son, Gord, who joined the Army after 9-11 and served in Afghanistan.... and to my Uncle, F/L John R. Sterne, D.F.C., who died in 1943, before his 21st birthday, while serving with the RCAF in England.... and to all Veterans everywhere.... thank you for your service and your sacrifice....

When I was up in NB last week, I decided to pay a little early visit to a friend. The things you do at 23 Y/O.



My father visited him today, cleaned the gravesite and got to speak with Chris's father.

There was no ceremonies around here due to Covid. So went to the range, and cried a bit.

It brought to mind a somewhat eerie song about a bombing run that I hadn't listened to in a while. It's from 1980 by a Toronto band named Blue Peter. It's called Radio Silence. If you haven't heard it, or not in a while, and would like to to give it a listen:

I hope this sheds some light. Remembrance day is not all about those who fought in WW1 and WW2. We need to stop thinking this. Because alot of posts I've seen about the day. Were only taking about, or sharing photos from WW1/WW2.

80% is alot of clueless people.

2020 Stats says there about 103,000 and I'm sure those numbers were lower in the mid 2000s. So nearly 1/2 the Canadian forces served in Afghanistan.

Many people forget about UN peacekeeping missions, Korea, Gulf War, and Afghanistan.

Here is my source, video of a young injured Canadian, about being a young vet. In the video he talks about, people thinking the vehicle he drives, is his parents or grandparents because he young with vet plates. I get the same attitude, esp when I say I'm retired. 36 and retired, doesn't mean I'm on welfare.
