I was here tinkering around this morning and knocking over a few pop cans, when some loose bbs rolled toward some pellets and gave me an idea. How would it work if you shot a pellet with a bb in the bottom? Seems like the power almost doubles. Usually just a dent in an old pellet tin, but 3 of these double-dosers and the tin is nearly folded in half. Into paper they almost all keyhole with only one target showing separation (two holes). Will do more testing this afternoon on known targets to see the difference in performance. Using a 177 bb under/behind 22 pellets.

Anyone have similar recipes or experience?

Have fun experimenting, that's what sport is all about.
Your BB/pellet idea has been done every way possible.
The best practice is to find whatever pellet shoots best in your gun(s) and stick with it.
But it's your gun, you can put whatever you want through it. I doubt you'll get improve accuracy with a BB behind a pellet, even if you glue it there. And the power likely decreased, you just whack a bigger area with a tumbling pellet. The pellet has only a very minor effect on efficiency (power) your gun can produce, so whatever you observed done to tin cans is not due to increased power - unless you added fuel to the mix.

There are BB/pellet gun with smooth bores such as the Daisy 880 which can shoot both. Do NOT shoot BBs out of pellet guns with rifled barrels. This can damage the rifling.....Kind of always been rule of thumb .....

Some of the airgun repair shops laugh at the thought of BB's ruining a rifled barrel. I have asked. I am not going to add any names here.

Well, I most certainly would not do it. I've KNOWN BR shooters who would not use a bronze bristle brush in their 4140 barrels, let alone in the softer 416 stainless barrels. The VERY much softer air rifles barrels are a no-no to me, for steel BB's - afterall, Why Would You?
Want more power - go to a heavier pellet. They are usually more accurate as well.

I did the same thing..... but I super- glued a bb into the back of the pellet. Seems to have more punch at short range.

BB in the skirt of a 22 pellet is no problem. It will perform at the same level as the sum of the weights. So a 14.3 gr pellet with a BB will perform like a 16 gr pellet.
