I have a bsa meteor mk5 that refuses to cock. After investigating the issue, have found that the problem is that the piston is rotating inside cylinder. The notch that the trigger sear engages rotates to the side where it cannot engage. I can manually turn it back to center it..... but after 5-6 shots it rotates out of position again.
Any help on this issue would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
Steve

sounds like the cocking linkage (part # UL040)
is worn out and not keeping the piston centered

I just installed a new cocking arm assembly because old one had a break in one side of the linkage. I suspected that was the problem.... but after installing the same thing happened. Also installed a Full service kit ( spring, buffer washer,0 ring and breach seal) to no avail.

I tried to send you a message asking for your email. I seem to be having difficulty posting pics.

Is the front of the slot wider then the back on the piston? There is probably enough play to allow the tab to pop out.

some had a small teflon pad in the stock stapled under the cocking rod at the front look for pin holes.
Plus square up the piston slots as notec mentioned.

boy that poor thing has a lot of wear.... :|
what I would suggest you try that is if the pin from #2 can be removed
then replace it with the proper linkage from #1 arm then give it a try that should work
because as you can see the new one that you got isn't the correct shoe its round and you
need the square one besides the square one is wider, that's your problem right there...give it a shot let use know...

And please make sure to grease the friction points on the main tube........that looks like it has been used dry causing major wear......

Not sure if replacing the arm would solve the problem..... as it was doing the same thing before the new cocking arm. Think I may have to try and hunt up a new piston.
I appreciate all the input.....
Thanks

Anyone have any experience with one of these? Easier to get than a piston from my searches.

After some extensive exploration I have found that the piston is worn so badly where the cocking arm makes contact, that the slot is now a V.
After about 5-6 shots piston rotates enough that the trigger mechanism will not engage.
My question is..... would a gas ram piston eliminate the torsion action from the spring and give me a usable gun with minimal work on the piston? Just looking for thoughts because I'm having trouble finding one.....options.
