Got a very very nice pistol from a gentleman in the forum!

But looks I made a mistake... I shouldn't put my hands on the grip before enjoy some shooting moment first....

Everything goes so well however there should be still some days before I satisfy with the result~

Nothing really big project on the grip but just a little fine sanding with extra fine sandpaper and apply oils on the smooth areas... It's already good enough for anything else, but the original color is too dark and the wood grains almost hiding under the stains so....

The stippling is original from the factory...

Before really having the grip in my hands, I don't know how good the stippling is~ Never seen a good HD close shot on the grip before...

I didn't touch the 45 Stars either, but I think I would love the walnut 75 grip more than the laminated 45 Stars...

[emoji38] I know I don't have a big hand, but still okay on the PS stock and Izzy grip, I think it's good on the well designed ambi 75 grip too... Just thinking the color is a bit too dark and want to put a better oil treatment on it...

Use finish stripper or sand paper to remove the finish & stain if there is any stain. Might only be oil.
Walnut stains dark just from the addition of oil.
I personally prefer True Oil as a finish. It is an oil type varnish & if given time between "thin" coats, will harden nicely.
I have also experimented with Circa 1850 Tung Oil which also seems a good finish but needs more time between "thin" coats.

Yep, I am using the Circa 1850 pure tung oil now. And just about 1/4 or less of a drop for each coat and over night time for drying.

The 1500 grits sand paper was for smoothing out and making a little dust to mix with the oil to seal some tiny pores and make the surface more smooth. I actually didn't think about the sanding will bring up the grains and make the color looks better than the dark out feel before~ That the extra bonus~ :)

Walnut is dark. Some walnuts are darker than others. American Black Walnut is usually quite dark and simply putting oil on it, darkens it even more.
Many English Walnuts are much lighter in colour, with French and Italian Walnuts (all are English {Juglins Regia} I think) will vary to lighter even more-so.
The English, French and Italian walnuts all range in colour but usually are lighter in colour and have much more figure than American (or Canadian) walnuts.
The Turkish Walnuts are darker yet & generally have much broader or more black striping. Usually, none of the walnuts need or get any "staining".
