Post subject: Ruger 10/22 damaged O ring

Greetings Gentlemen,
I just bought a pre owned Ruger 10/22 CO2 rifle,upon inspection,i found out that the green O ring at the end of the piercing tube was "worned" out,thus reluctantly cannot test fire the rifle,may result only to Co2 leakage,will be very grateful,for any help and info where to buy the said damaged green O ring.

Very first thing I would do is wipe off all the oil and grime off that o-ring. Clean and make sure it is dry. Put a rag down the slot in gun to get any oil out of the tube. After that put one Co cartage in then put and empty C0 in the back and see if that works. If that works then you can put in 2 next round. I put one drop of Crosman oil on both CO's and then gun would not hold air after 3 or 4 times doing that. Keep it dry and gun is fine. Looking at my seal, I think they look worn out just from sliding in and out of the metal tube when in fact they are still good. I will be watching this thread. Let me know how that works for you. I would try wheeliehd suggestion. It appears to be solid advice.

If that does not solve the problem, maybe contact R&R Airgun Repair.

He is an authorized Umarex Repair Centre & he fixed the air leak problem on a used Umarex Legends Cowboy Lever Action I recently bought. The air tube on both guns are similar.

He told me that too much Pellgun Oil can damage the seals on the air tube. And to only use a drop or two on the CO2 cylinder tips.

For clarification, does the gun actually leak air, or do you just think it will leak when you install the CO2?

If you have not tried installing CO2 yet, might want to first try & see what happens.
