Hey folks

I have been researching tear down and reassembly of the Benjamin Maximus and Discovery. It appears there is little tricky step when sliding the valve and gauge port back into the rifle in order to avoid tearing o rings.

I see there is a tool made by Archer Airguns in the U.S., to facilitate the reassembly. However, they don't ship outside the U.S.

Here is an article about the problem:
http://www.archerairguns.info/2014/11/n ... jamin.html

And here is the item on the Archer Airguns website:

Anyone know a way to duplicate the function of this simple little tool?

Thanks,
Dave

Looking at that tool, wouldn't your thumb work? I would imagine you could use your thumb to push up into the hole, preventing the orings from being torn.

A fellow should de-burr the tube and other parts while you have it apart. Always a good idea, and makes life easier for orings.

I use a small flat blade screw driver to work orings past such things...just break the sharp edges and polish it up a little so it doesn't slice orings.

I found a really good teardown video of the Benjamin Discovery (close sibling of the Maximus) on youtube by Magnum Airpower. Its done with out using this little tool. Just using a flat blade screwdriver and some careful technique.

I have some deburring tools and fine details files so i will also debur the edge to reduce the danger to the seal.

I could probably find someone with a 3D printer but after 20 minutes of searching 3D printer plan web sites, I could not find this little tool. haha I am probably just not looking on the right web sites, but I will try the deburring route first.

Thanks folks
Dave

Yep, I agree with you. But my Maximus doesn't need to be resealed right now, I am just planning for the future when I want to or need to do it.

Cheers,
Dave
