Does anyone have personal experience with this rifle?
-Favorable but not plentiful reviews on internet
-Only from AGS in Canada ?
- Seems similar to Ruger Explorer

Yep Ruger explorer by a diff name (ie not Ruger), but same $hit diff pile.
Notice the safety green stock for the youths. Curious they claim 505 fps rather than 495 fps for the new one.

It's basically a target version of the Explorer for youth marksmanship programs.

Differences between the two - straight from the manufacturer
https://www.umarexusa.com/what-s-the-sc ... rex-embark

I think the different published velocities is because the Embark was intended to use alloy pellets from the get-go. The Explorer was likely tested using light lead pellets.

D&L Airgun also carry the Embark, but they go with the manufacturer's listed FPS (510) so require a PAL (note that it looks like the alloy pellet used would actually fall short of the 4.2 foot-pounds KE threshold).
AGS lists it as a 495 FPS non-PAL air rifle.

I emailed both retailers about the PAL/Non-PAL issue - D&L said they went with the manufacturer's published MV and didn't check for KE.
AGS said they tested 20 or so examples, found none of them exceeded 500 fps and as the powerplant is the same as the Explorer, listed as a non-PAL design.

I didn't see an entry one way or another in the FRT.

Hope that helps!
