Some time ago I had a hankering to do some tuning and tweaking, and I decided to delve back into the QB78 type guns again.
topic88338.html
I have been down this road before and sold them all off to good homes, I know many a rat has been eliminated using my tuned up QBs.
Anyhow, here is my new collection as it stands today. Top: QB79, Mid: QB78, Bot: AR2078.
All have had internal polishing and smoothing, deburred, resealed, tweaked, blinged and they shoot straight as as you would expect. Single ragged hole in .22 cal on my 10 yd basement range. Oversized bolt handles with wood knobs and white-line stocks for everyone. Fun fun fun, now I need a next project.

Nice collection Duke.

Have you ever tried to convert one to a multi shot bolt action from single shot? I understand Archer use to sell a kit that used a rotary mag. like on the Artemis CR600W, that could be installed on the QB78.

My only complaint with the QB 78, was that it was a single shot bolt action. The ability to be a multi shot bolt action would seem to be a better idea.

I understand their is a QBII that has a 10 shot mag. but something closer to a wood QB 78 might look nicer.

Over the years there have been a few multi-shot adaptions made for the QB78. I really didn't like any of them, and am content with shooting them as is. single shot, slow and steady. On HPA the multi-shot idea is fine, but on CO2 the cooling action means you mostly have to wait between shots anyhow. In the good old days, I remember going bird hunting with an old timer who used exclusively a single shot 16 ga - got more birds than the young fellas with their 5 shot pump actions. :drinkers:

Super nice. I like brown Blunds, too.

I've just found out about these rifles. I saw this multi shot locally. I was tempted but I've gone another route.

That "thumbhole" is a good looking rifle, Duke. Built for business - not toyish.

Agreed, the first QB I ever bought was a thumbhole AR2078B I belive is the correct version name. I have never had a AR2078A, but I would like to have one. if anyone is hanging on to one and would like to send it my way send me a PM. Calibre not important. nor condition.
This is a AR2078A:

Nice looking match rifle. Does it take 2, 12 gram CO2 bottles like the other QB's?

Yes, same action as the QB78, has the 15mm dia barrel like the 78D. Basically a 78D with the fancy peep type sights, which are of no use to me since I'm blind as a bat. With open sights I can only focus on one plane at a time so either the rear or the front or the target, so scope is a must.

It's got a rail, so scope it is. I put a scope on my FWB150 Tyroleen for testing pellets and to shoot the running boar
target at the club. That rifle was undefeated at that game. Scopes had to be taped at 4X. NP. With the scope and
the RWS R10's that that rifle liked, it would make 5-shot bench groups at 25 yards of 2/10". Amazing rifle. Wish I still
had it now. :(

Yes, they take some effort to bring them up, but totally worth it.
Here is my latest for the QB79, allows it to run on a 12 g CO2 cartridge and is so convenient and light.
Looks sharp too.
