Hi new the forum but at 67 I have had a few different air rifles. Still have my original Slavia 620
Bought a Benjamin trail np a couple of years ago, that nitro piston lasted about 75 shots before the gas leaked out. Instead of sending it back I ordered a new nitro piston and rebuilt it but I can’t get used to that trigger. So I looking at a new rifle what do you members with more experience than myself think I m stuck between Diana 280 at 870 fps and the WH 50s at 800 fps. Which way should I go? Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

Not sure if I should try the Diana springer as I never had a chance to shoot one or buy one.

But to my experience on the HW (yeah, if in short form or just say their model, they use HW instead of WH...) springers, they are all good except a little bit too long between trigger and grip... Great quality, great accuracy and too quality Rekord trigger.

Welcome to the forums !

Benjamin/Crosman springer rifles have indeed a bad reputation when it comes to their triggers. That being said, I highly trying the RC bearing mod (costs under $10) and the difference will be day and night. Let me know if you need more details, I’ll be happy to help !

Welcome to the Forum; don't be fooled by manufacturers claims on fps - they are pure fiction.
Both of those rifles will be sweet shooters, and it will come down to your own preference which fells better in your hands and for your shooting style. The HW may hold its value better because the 50 is a well loved platform that has been around for much longer than the 280; fewer people in general are familiar with the 280.

Thanks for the reply’s. Almost everything is out of stock here in BC that’s in a reasonable price. Everything will have to be mail order and can’t handle items before purchase which puts a damper on making a decision, that’s why I m looking at pro’s and cons of the Diana 280 and the
WH 50 both in .177. It will be used for target shooting and pest control on property.

You could also look in the store attached to the Canadian airgun forum, if looking for an HW50 in .177

https://www.airgunforum.ca/store/produc ... cts_id=233

I have no experience with Diana air rifles, so I cannot render an opinion, but I have owned Weihrauch airguns for over 20 years and they are built like a tank and very accurate.

Hi there, I understand your concerns, buy this quality rifle https://www.gotenda.com/product/stoeger ... e-1000fps/
It's out of stock register to be notified, I am buying it. I have a Gamo 10x Fox .177 1250FPS shot over 800 pellets and works like a charm
Sell all your broken rifles
Enjoy your life
Regards
Ro

Looking for something not to loud so it needs to be lower fps to keep it quieter. My Benjamin hits 113 decibels may as well use a .22 rimfire.

Yeah I’m in Canada and these type of purchases have checked through RCMP firearms license department which makes private sales a pain.

The transaction does not need to go through the RCMP. The HW50 is not a restricted firearm, buyer and seller just need to have their PAL since it is over 500FPS.

Do you have a PAL?

Sorry PAL has to be verified for any air rifle over 495 fps and mine has been now just waiting for delivery. We are also on the wildfire evacuation order right now so delivery will probably be delayed.

Well I am curious about where you are as your place looks enforcing the regulation very well... You mean you need to show someone your PAL before picking up the parcel?

Yes, the forum store and all other PAL airgun retailers must verify your PAL before shipping the goods. But, don't confuse that with private sales protocol. As a seller, one is responsible to check for PAL credentials and ensure the buyer is not ineligible to purchase the rifle. Contact with the government is not required when long guns change hands. As a newbie here, Tianna, you should consider asking the big questions here before taking any outside advice. There are lot of people paid to know the law that simply don't know the law.
