I participated in my second-ever match yesterday at Port Colborne.
I came in last in my division but again had a great time and again learned a lot more about shooting accurately than by watching YouTube and trying to figure it out in my basement.

My experience as a newbie at both HAHA and Port Colborne has been outstanding. The experienced shooters have been very willing to offer pointers and encouragement. If you are reading this forum and are anywhere within a couple hours of Hamilton and think you might like to try hit (or ideally knock down!!) some steel targets between 10 an 50 yards with your pellet rifle, you should come out.

Note - I am not a member of the club and do not speakfor the club or the members. I am just sharing my experience as a beginner. Three months ago I had no idea how much fun this would be and I never would have expected such a welcoming group of people.

If you have any questions or are shy about posting, send me a PM.

I will definitely be back at HAHA this coming Saturday to try improve on my last result.

Thanks Rob for sharing your experience as a new comer to field target. Think like i did, a lot of people hear competition and are turned off by it. When really it is just a fun shoot with friendly people. Who can and will help you up your game. also you get to see a range of air rifles from break barrels to high end PCP rifles. No big egos just friendly shooters who just want to grow their sport. So if you enjoy air guns come out and shoot with us and meet a bunch of like minded people. So glad I did. it is so much more fun to shoot with people than to shoot alone. :drinkers:

Another awesome day!!
I will echo Tom's thanks to the members and volunteers for another great event.
This was my third-ever match and I again improved my score and learned a ton.
My new friend Tom continues to out-shoot me in every match even though he has the exact same 3 matches of experience. My goal is to get to the point where I can provide some competition but he keeps getting better as well.
I had the chance to watch Zach for a few minutes yesterday while he smoothly drilled 8 shots in a row to clear a lane.... and he was rushing!!
There was lots of great shooting to see and some great examples for this novice to aspire to.
Thanks again to everyone involved for a great day.

Also thanks Jeff for putting up with me again.
I tried to send you a PM with my analysis from yesterday but you are pm-proof.

Hi Rob,

Funny you pick me as competition. I had my sights on MikeP. He has the same three match experience and continue to kick my butt everytime.[emoji12]

Let's compare notes, maybe there is some trick to his consistency.

Thanks,

Tom

He listened to the things I taught him. I guess he listened and learned quicker and better than you Tom. LOL

LOL - Tom, what are talking about? You did really well this past weekend!
For the longer shots I feel like I'm shaking like an addict detoxing in rehab!

I'm only a C student but I am trying!
I'm still working on your beginner lessons: 1) have fun; 2) just try to hit the face plate

Take away lesson from you this past match: I need to ween myself off of ballistic calculator range cards and make my own based on practical experience.
