My Father-in-law is a retired Airforce. He ran the CFB Chatham air base as well as another in Germany. My wife is a military brat lol.

He was responsible for the de-commissioning of the older fighter jets and had them shipped to various locations in Canada to have them displayed. He also has parts from the jets that were removed for display. He proudly displays them in his man cave lol

Here is a picture of him in his earlier days, and a picture of my wife in front of one of the de-commissioned jets.

My dad was an armourer for the RCAF and worked with the RAF in England from 1941-1945. My older brother has all the paraphernalia. I have the small lapel pin he had and I wore his wool winter coat for all my teenage years. That thing was warm.

I remember he use to hate old war movies that showed hundreds of rounds being shot, non stop, from wing guns.

It will be a big, and very proud celebration. When I first joined DND they mistakenly entered me with a rank of Capt, so I elected to be in the Navy - but to be clear I'm a civilian so military rank doesn't apply to me and I support all 3 branches equally (with a glass of port, passed on the left of course). :drinkers:

Not a boomer, no. The only black Friday I recall was some tornado destroyed part of Edmonton in 87. I know a direct survivor of the event. She would have been 4 or 5 at the time.

I do like fighter jets. All I know about the arrow is that it was extremely advanced for its time. I watched the movie probably when it was new.

Went to an air show when I was a kid. Fell in love  they had an f-18 hornet and an a-10 warthog... Just insanely powerful machines.
