Is there anyone who has experience with Bench-shooting for Target Air-pistol? Any hints, advices? I am aware of general requirements. Probably it can be very useful for sights and trigger control

Today tried new Baikal MP657 air-pistol. Got 94/100 standard 10 meter distance. Not bad for 71 y/o beginner ))

I've done quite a lot of bench shooting with the PP700SA in .22 at 10meters and 18 meters as well.
I used my adjustable rifle bench-rest, resting the fore-end part of the gun & using 2 hands on the grip.
I have a simple old red-dot scope on both pistols, the 700and the 800.
As well, I have used the rabbit eared rear rifle bag with a couple magazines or something else to raise it up a bit.
This was more comfortable than the regular rifle rest as the arms then rest on the table/bench.
The first picture is the setup at 20yards.
The target is 10 meters, rest with a variety of different pellets. If you click on the pictures, they will enlarge.
I was also born in 1950.

I think the important detail to note is Daryl is using 10m targets at 20 yards. The redot on such a small target cannot help clarity. Pretty good shooting if you ask me.

No, just open sights and my weak (- 5) eyes ))) and the air-gun is not the best MP 657 is entry level CO2 single shot pistol. Two months of training

If you get serious you may consider shooting glasses with a binder and a iris. I use a standard set or reading glasses at 1.0 with a clipon binder and a printable iris I found on thinguniverse. Cheap and does the job. Definitely upped my scores.

Like all things shooting it can get as expensive as you like.

The Baikal MP657 looks like a cool pistol.

Something I have found helps with open sights, is very low power computer and reading glasses.
These are available in most drug stores in 1 up to 4 diopters, however those, even the 1X diopter
usually are too powerful and make the target (downrange) too fuzzy. I have searched and found
online .25 and .50 diopter reader or computer glasses which worked much better than naked eyes,
however one eye-glass place I visited ordered me in some .75 diopter readers which work a treat.
(work well) The .25 or .50's might work better for someone with better eyes then mine. For some,
even the 1.0 diopter glasses would work, especially for close range (out to 20yard) shooting.

Just shot 10 meter bench-rest one hand open sights, according ISSF rules. In Russia it's used for kid's competitions. I was using really good, but very old IZH 46. My result was 174/200 and it is not bad. Only one "seven" and very few "tens". I am fluctuating between 8 and 9. I wish I can shoot the same standing with no hand support... For Canada it equates "Marksman" level. Crosman makes me miserable )))

I will have to try the one-handed approach this winter, if I get out for the indoor shooting.
