How does one remove the end cap from the barrel on a 2240xl? The thread protector removes easily, but the end cap won't budge.

Put it in a pot of hot water and tap it off.......its just a press fit

Strange, then. I had the barrel off and mounted in a wooden-jawed vice, then put a torch on the end cap for a minute or so, and still it would not budge. I am beginning to think it is the same piece as the barrel itself!

I wouldnt use a torch on it, you may damage the part.

Not sure what you are trying to show me with that photo. The flared end cap on my 2240XL does not have a grub screw in it. Wish it did; it would sure make it easier to remove!!

That is because that one is made to put on a barrel that didnt come with the threaded attachment. The point was to show you that they do come off.
