Princess Auto has a very big sale flyer this week, I saw the Remington Express NP on sale for $100 - not a bad price for this rifle, and comes with a basic scope.

When you break open the barrel does it go back 90 degrees or much farther? Picture one or picture two...

Anything wrong with these two cocking position? Only the titled rifle or any break barrel? Based on power level?!

Top picture shows a long piston which I don't want....bottom picture shows the longer stroke of a short (150mm) piston which I DO want...Crosman.ca has been out of short pistons for a while now...

This Remington Express is a basic B18 configuration with Crosman's "anybody's guess" method of detuning.
I have one of the original Remington Express Wood that has a barrel/lockup/piston rod like a Ruger Airhawk, and a T09? Trigger copy. The trigger is awesome. Good shooter. It's not real fast (14fpe). There was another version called the Hunter that was advertised as 18+fpe. Same gun, heavier spring. I don't think there was a Canadian version, but they were popular in UK with a sub-12fpe version made for that market. I bought mine in USA from Midway (ordered to a border store) when they were clearing them out after Crosman took over production. Paid $54. Came with a torn piston seal from sloppy assembly. Weird trigger/safety disassembly sequence to get the piston out. Should have bought one in .22 also. Groan.

it looks like a long piston to me...stroke should be longer with a short piston...darn...only way to power it up then is with a new 150mm piston :(

You can easily cut down a long piston, search the Forum if unsure.
All you need is hacksaw, drill, and file and patience.

is an NP gun subject to the same do-no-dry-fire rule as a springer?

..and if not a springer, what is the Reminington Express to be called?
per airgunmaniac: '..A nitro piston air gun is a spring gun without the spring..."

LOL, yes a NP gun is a spring gun. To distinguish it from a wire spring gun call it a gas spring gun.
The gas spring won't twang, and has a different force vs distance curve than a wire spring, and bad things will happen if you dry fire it.
